New year's rockets/signal rockets

What is your favorite?

My choice;

Red parachute rocket.

Reason; They are not toys.

As a dog owner, I hate them. Neighbours nearby have been letting the bloody things off since the start of this month (why I dunno). And my dogs just about have heart attacks each time....I'm not sure they will live through another NYE. AND they are meant to be illegal here, pfft.

If I want fireworks, I'll go to the city centre on NYE, or pay a hooker :p

Are you going to Times Square?

All people need to experience fireworks at least once.

Most people shoot guns in the air around here. Dumbasses.

People who live in Dallas are funny.

No no, I'm not saying that I've never seen fireworks at all. Obviously I have, seeing as I live in the USA and we celebrate Independence Day every year, by means of big fireworks productions. I'm saying I've never seen them lit up on New Year's Eve. Our celebration for NYE here is the New York ball drop, and lots of partying and drinking.

I love fireworks. Unfortunately I don't have much money and I don't have anyone to celebrate it with. And do it alone is pathetic.

I just bought one of those so called batteries for 5 bucks. One of those things that you light once and it shoots a couple loud or colorful "bombs" up in the air. Just to have one thing to light at midnight.

Ah, I see.

I thought that religious reasons prevent you from watching the fireworks. :eyeso:

Religious reasons? What religious reasons? I don't follow any religions.

Nah, I wouldn't call it pathetic.
There was this little video someone posted once, I can't remember if it was on here or facebook, where this guy was running around with balloons everywhere, smashing things, doing all sorts of shit, and someone commented something like, "Now that's what I call self entertainment." So, doing fun stuff, like setting off fireworks, by yourself is more interesting than pathetic. You only have one life- live it up!

IMAGINE
When I think of New Year's it usually involves streamers, horns, hats and ushering the new year in with a toast. Fireworks in the US are most often seen on Independence Day.

Nope. I despise large crowds, and the ball drop in Times Square is just about the worst a crowd can get. No thanks, I'll stay home in my cozy bed, drinking hot chocolate, nice and warm, watching it on tv. Best seat in the house.
You are spot on about the crowd Harley. When I was living in NY I attended this Time Square event once and it felt like being herded around like cattle and a couple of my friends weren't even let into the area since it was to full... If I were still there this year I would go with your idea it truly is the "Best seat in the house".

Nah, I wouldn't call it pathetic.

Harley is right and you can always post/blog here to share it with your friends on FOs :)

I believe that clever guy like you is able to acquire a couple of euros and buy a few rockets.

And when you go to out send rockets you can run into a nice shemale.

This is the reason why I should not try to be funny.

Now I understand why you do not have a favorite New Year's rockets.

The Times Square thing is just a touristy thing. Much the same as few New Yorkers have ever been to the Statue of Liberty. Atlantic City has been the perfect place for me on NYE. You don't have to go to the pay parties since all of the casinos set up bars with bands and DJs in their open areas. Hats and noise makers are passed out there too. Hotels on the Boardwalk will run $400+ but I get around that. I book as early as possible off the Boardwalk and can steal one for $40 (God bless Kayak.com). Some of the hotels run free shuttle busses on NYE. If not take a 10 minute cab ride in and it costs the same as the parking garages.
