New Formula One Season

Shame. He would have taught these 'drivers' a thing or two...

During he's two last championships he's been taught a thing or two by Fernando Alonso

I don't care for Schumacher (either one of them), but I was really looking forward to seeing The Chin race in F1 again. This is really unfortunate. I wonder if it was really all about his neck, or if some of it had to do with the FIA not allowing him to test the current car after some teams protested? Who whined about that, Williams and Red Bull, I think? Pussies!

I wonder how the fans in Spain feel, who just rushed out to buy tickets last week? No Alonso and now no Schumacher. I bet there are some royally pissed off people in Spain today. :crash:

The BIG news of these days is out - Mercedes/McLaren is buying Brawn GP (75%) and will be attacking with joined forces next season.

The full storie's just is out in german right now, but check back yourself in Google News.

Wow, I am happy.

First, these incredibly ugly neon-yellow cars get a frsh, stylish paintjob, and those three companies will take over the lead again, I am sure :nanner:

Just some random thoughts after today's qualifying:

- McLaren is back!
- Happy for Sutil - long time coming.
- 15th pole for Hamilton - great precision driving by him to secure the pole.
- I always thought Luizzi was sort of an overrated goof. He proved me wrong today. First time out and he makes Q3!
- Button is an odd duck. Does he still have the fire, or does he think he can cruise to a WDC?
- BMW is imploding (literally).
- And I'm happy for Giancarlo. Italian boy gets to drive for the team every Italian wants to drive for: Ferrari.

This whole thing with Nelson Piquet had me rolling around laughing, Dale Earnhart used to do that all the time. :1orglaugh

Dunno if I'll be watching F1 next season, these last couple of years have put me off, and looking at some of the rules and other deals coming in, it probably won't have much entertainment value at all. It says something that as a ten year fan of F1, I switched my allegiance to Nascar after seeing only two or three races. :dunno: :wave2:

Well, Button is the 2009 FIA F1 World Driving Champeeen! I have to admit though, I was hoping that Barrichello would catch him. I wanted to see the "old man" get a WDC before he retires. And this year was his best (and probably last) shot. But Button did what he needed to do. I can't take that away from him. Still, his situation reminds me a lot of Damon Hill's back in the mid 90's.

And Lewis Hamilton has stormed from the back of the pack and is now in 5th place in the driver standings, one point ahead of (his future teammate?) Kimi Raikkonen. He has no chance of pipping Webber for 4th though.

McLaren has also come from behind and is now one point ahead of Ferrari for 3rd place in the team standings.

IMO, the past three seasons have been nothing short of fantastic! A lot of unexpected twists and turns, especially at the start of this season. Too bad about all the scandals though.
