As a Raptors fan, I can understand what Cleveland is going to feel, but what we went through with Carter is going to be nowhere near as painful. I **** to say it, but I'm wondering if there is even going to be a team in Cleveland in five years or so.

I see your point, but Miami seems like such a more attractive place for LeBron at this point. Cleveland sports teams haven't won a major championship in more than 2 of his lifetimes, and it didn't really look like - even if LeBron had stayed - that a championship was on the horizon anytime soon.

LeBron has been in the league for 7 years and hasn't shown that he's able to win a title by himself. I think he came to terms with that and made his decision based on that concept, realizing that Wade and Bosh give hime more of the help that he NEEDS to win a championship. I still don't think Miami will win the title this upcoming season, but I think its pretty clear by now that LeBron needs at least 1, if not 2, legit superstars on a team with him to help him win in the playoffs.

The "New Big 3" is definitely in Miami, but IMO, it will be a challenge to get those 3 guys to mesh well over the course of a season. Ego-wise, its one thing to be "the Superstar" on a team and be successful, its quite another to be on a "team of superstars," and acheive.
 
Now isn't Shaq kicking himself for following James to Cleveland? :1orglaugh He coulda went out a champion, but now he's just a washed up legend. But just imagine if the DID get Shaq at $5mill a year.

LBJ knew Chicago was a better fit, and still chose Miami for controversy sake. Makes me wonder why he bullshitted everyone and himself into believing he wanted to win rings...

I hear what your saying but the knock on most pro athletes is that they have big egos and are all about the money. Lebron just showed that isnt the case with him by leaving $30 million on the table and coming to a team where he wont be "the man", this showed that he truly is about winning.

One of the rare times I disagree with you. I think they're odds on to win the NBA championship this coming year.

If the man was really about winning, he'd go to the team with the best chance to do so. Chicago would have been the best team in the league by leaps and bound with him, and even with him in MIA, them being tops in the East is debatable.
 
The amount Miami is going to spend on just three players they better hope they can continually find the absolute best bang for your buck bargain players for some time to come to supplement them. Most sports teams don't do well with a few superstars while the rest of the team is a bunch of duds.

Look you don't know that yet, they still can go out and sign some players or they can try and trade Beasley to free up some cap space.

The Heat just traded Beasley to Minnesota for a 2011 second round draft pick so this will free up cap space for them to sign bench players to fill out the roster. Plus they have an offer on the table for Mike Miller to fill that role as a spot up shooter.
 
The Heat are going to be booed right out of both Toronto and Cleveland. That'll be the only reason to go watch basketball in either of those cities.

LeBron is really taking a chance here. When Dwayne Wade, and not he, emerges as the team's leader, his rep and legacy will take a hit. And he loses millions of potential dollars endorsement-wise. Being the face of New York or Chicago woulda made him a shitload of money. Sharing the spotlight in a small market will not. Plus, right now I think Miami's only 3rd best in the East, and possibly 4th depending on who has a better offseason from this point on, Chicago or Miami. But then again I thought back in 2008 that Boston would win only 45 games.
