Out of all the songs posted....these are the only songs I could see actually touching somebody. Linkin Park? Are you fucking serious? That fake, manufactured, trash touches you on an emotional level? C'mon man. That's a joke.

As far as converting emotion into music, Sigur Ros is the most emotional band I've ever heard in my entire life. Explosions In The Sky is a close second. If you wanna talk about pure emotion in song writing, you mention these bands. Not Linkin Park. Kill yourself if you're emotionally affected by them.

Damn Diva, you cold. I mean, I somewhat agree with you but who are we to stomp on the songs that have special meaning to these people?

STDiva? Moar liek STD...jerkhead-iva. Amirite? Amirite?

That being said, I'm glad you approve of Planet Caravan.

It doesn't have the same ring. :D

Seriously though. People are going to say Linkin Park....of all bands makes touching music?

I can accept people thinking AIDS is a conspiracy created by the government to make money on pharmaceuticals.

I can accept that the government killed thousand of their own people to initiate a war for oil.

But I cannot accept people thinking Linkin Park making emotionally touching music. That's just too much.

Testify!!

EDIT: I just read it again, and this would make an excellent quote

It's fake music, made for fake people.

Planet Caravan is an incredible song, for incredible people.

BUT! in the end I do have to disagree! If a song means something to someone, who are we to say otherwise? If a backstreet boys song was playing when someone heard of the death of a loved one, and that song reminds them of that moment and that loved one, do you want to say, "that song is shit and sucks balls" Music is all within context (at least certain ones, obviously)

You have a point, though I'm hesitant to agree with you because I must confess that I enjoyed their early music when I was in middle school. :anonymous

BTW, I will contest that High and Dry by Radiohead is also touch worthy and you did not include it sir.

....Wait, I just came up with something:

STDinsensitiva.

Clever if I say so myself.

But a Backstreet Boys song is written not from personal experience, but as a medium to sell c.d's. How can someone hear a song written from some shmuck in a studio and relate to it? Just because the words are similar to something they've experienced? You should be able to sense the sincerity in the song. 90% of the shit on the radio isn't genuine emotion conveyed musically. Just because a singer sings about death, doesn't mean it's an honest song about death. Too many people can't differentiate between a sincere song and a manufactured song.

I'm not saying people can't enjoy a Linkin Park song. Or Lady Gaga, or Katy Perry or whoever. Enjoying it as music isn't the same as being affected on an emotional level. I can listen to Usher all day, but his B.S songs about love and loss and whatever don't mean shit to me. Because I know it's just a song. There is no sincerity in it.

:dito: Well I agree with you there.

Sometimes artists fabricate those kinds of songs because that's what sells, but sometimes they are sincere. You can tell the difference. The fake songs have cliche phrases like "heartbreak" or there are forced rhymes and the lyrics are repetitive.

I kinda liked it. I got a thing for tablas.

Just remembered this one, unsure when I first heard it, was 5 when it aired ...

Santana - Soul Sacrifice - Woodstock 1969

But when it fully hit me, back in, I think, 1980 or somewhen around then, I needed to get a guitar in my fingers right then :)

Re-viewing music from those magic days, here is Mr. Joe Cocker, making a very fine statement:

You are either giving your songs every bit of your soul and passion, or you try to look the cutest possible at any given moment, in order for the pictures later look gorgeous in the papers.

He made the right choice.

I got real high and listened to Pink Floyds The Final Cut three times in a row

really sad, angry and beautiful
