Monsters of Rock 2006

I just got my ticket to see Monsters of Rock in Milton Keynes, Deep Purple & Alice Cooper are headlining with Journey, Thunder & Ted Nugent supporting. Its quite a weak line-up considering previous MOR. Is anyone else going and what do they thing of the line-up?...

Journey? Well, at least I know who they are. Who is Thunder, just because I don't know.

I think the bill that had Iron Maiden and KISS at the same show has it beat. :D

Wouldnt call that weak

Ted Nugent always kicks ass whenever I've seen him. I would love to see Alice Cooper. Is there a Web site with tour dates anywhere?

I only ment weak in comparison with previous shows,'91 had AC/DC & Metallica, I would have liked to have seen AC/DC & ZZ Top headlining that would have rocked, but I can't wait to see Alice Cooper! Ted Nugent will be great too, though he's at the bottom of the bill!!! And who are Thunder!?

Yeah I know what you mean. Deep Purple live are awesome and Alice has some good tunes. I understand what you're trying to say degenerate Jeb, the lineup could be from 1976 and even before.

Are they gonna have Geritol, Depends, and Viagra as sponsors?

Update:
For anyone whose interested...
Apparently Queensryche have been added to the bill...
Whether thats a good thing I'll have to wait and see...

Alice Cooper, Deep Purple & Ted Nugent...what the hell, all that´s missing is MC5 and The Stooges and it could have been a show from 1971. And what are Thunder doing there, that has got to be one of the wimpiest hair-metal bands ever.

I was thinking the same thing, PG. lol

I thought MOR was supposed to be huge names of the current time. I guess I've never paid much attention to this tour series. They should call it Veterans of Rock or something. :dunno:

I'd have to disagree, I don't think that MOR is for the current huge names cos thats what 'Downloads' for, which by the way is by the same promoters as MOR, I use 'promoters' in the loosest possible sense as they've been promoting 'Download' through the nose and not given MOR anytime whatsoever!! Also Download is ment to be aimmed more at current bands, so who do they get to headline it! Metallica & Guns 'n' Roses!!!! I think MOR is all about Classic Rock cos none of the kids who go to see the latest 'rock' (again loosest sense of the word) bands would get it. Now I'm only 22 but I only listen to classic rock bands as other bands today aren't even worthy of cleaning the strings of legends like Angus Young, Tony Iommi, Pete Townshend, Ronnie Montrose, Leslie West.... I could go on...

I've just got back and it was 1000 times better than I thought it would be!! I take back previous statements, any arguments of a weak line-up was out the window! Ted Nugent was hilarious, "I'm playing guitar for my Limey friends" hahaha! Journey were a big surprise for me cos I wasn't expecting a whole lot but they were awesome! Steve Augeri was really good and Neal Schon blew me away!! He even played part of the British national anthem for us!! Alice Cooper totally stole the show with his stagemanship. he was unbelievably good!! I wouldn't have liked to have followed him on stage but Deep Purple pulled it off and really refreshed some of their classic tracks! Still though Alice Cooper wiped the floor with everyone!! Though Neal Schon mesmerised me!!
I might post a few good pics tomorrow once I've transfered them from my camera...
