MLB Trivia

Yessir! Fernando Tatis owns a record that isn't likely ever to be broken IMO.

Yeah no way it will ever be broken. Extremely unlikely to even be matched.

I'm wondering why Davey Johnson allowed Park enough leash to load the bases, give up one slam, then load them again to set up the second slam...before finally going to the bullpen :wtf:. I looked at the box score and it's not like this took place late in what was already a blowout game, with one pitcher being allowed to take it in the shorts to preserve the bullpen. But then again DJ made a whole lot of head scratching moves in his 2 lousy years as Dodger manager, so...

It's pretty well known that Nolan Ryan holds the major league career record for strikeouts with the amazing total of 5,714.

But who holds the record for career bases on balls with 2,795?? :dunno:

Since no one could hit him, the best way to get on base was to hope he was just a bit wild. The "Ryan Express" also went to first base a lot. Especially in his Angels days.

Yes indeed, feller. Amazing feats on both sides of the box score. A case can be made that Ryan was the greatest pitcher that ever lived based on a number of stats but owning the record for walks probably isn't one of them....although you must be a pretty good pitcher if you were allowed to walk that many batters.

Somebody else offer up a new question for us! Perhaps you, feller??

With a minimum of 30 plate appearances, which active player has the highest career batting average in the World Series, .455?

My 1st thought is Jeter, he's not active any more. The only name I can think of is Ortiz. He's played enough WS games to get the 30 AB's & he usually hits well in post season play.

Ding! Ding! No more calls, we have a winner. Big Papi has the 4th highest career BA in the WS and is the leader among active players.

OK-here's the Canadian in me coming out.

The Toronto Maple Leafs were in the International League from 1896-1967. Over the years, 15 members of the Leafs ended up in Cooperstown including Sparky Anderson & Dick Williams. From 1951 to 1961 the Leafs were owned by a man who eventually left Toronto & moved to the U.S. This gentleman went on to own teams in the NFL, NBA & NHL. Question: who was this man? Bonus if you can name the teams he owned.

I wouldn't know this one if I weren't a long time L.A. resident who spent a lot of time at "The Fabulous Forum". But since I am, and I did, the answer is Jack Kent Cooke, who at one time owned the Lakers and Kings after previously owning the Washington Redskins.

We have a winner!!! He tried to get a MLB team for Toronto, time wasn't right. He moved to LA & got the Kings, Lakers & Redskins. Good one!!

Which active manager has the highest WS game winning percentage? Not series victories but individual games.
