MLB Trivia

Name the only pitcher to pitch a no-hit opening day.

Pitcher, his team, the team that got no hit, and the stadium where it happen at.

Without googling I can only answer the first two: Bob Feller and the Cleveland Indians.

And going put the last part.

White Sox, Comisky Park 4-16-1940. Heard that listening to the Red Sox/Phillies game from Boston's WEEI Monday on MLB.Com radio.

Great value @ $19.95 a year for MLB radio. You get to listen to all 30 teams home radio broadcast teams and you can also listen to it on your phone with the MLB At Bat App.

I finally looked up the Bert Campaneris and several of us were correct. Cesar Tovar and Scott Sheldon did it in the AL, Jose Oquendo in the NL.

Next question....

In the 1934 all-star game, NY Giants pitcher Carl Hubbell struck out 5 consecutive future Hall-of-Famers. Name them (bonus points if you get all 5 in order).

No guesses? Man....this thread is dying an agonizing death (much like this forum in general). :crying:

Jimmy Foxx and Babe Ruth are two of them yes (not in order however although Ruth was the first). Also not sure if they were all Ks or backward-Ks but I'm guessing it was a mix.

Good start....there were 3 more. One should be super-easy. The other two, not so.

Without searching I had Ruth, Gehrig, and Al Simmons. Forgot about Foxx and didn't remember the last one. I'll let someone try to guess because I looked it up.

Great job, Bob! Ruth, Gehrig, Foxx, Simmons in that order. Who was the last superstar victim?

Fenway, Dodger, Camden Yards, Yankee, Kauffman, Oakland Coliseum & Turner Field are all correct. There are actually 2 others left unnamed (if only I could count....sorry). Good job so far!

BTW, Texas is Global Life Park, Cleveland is Progressive Field.
