Middle East 2021

Theopolis Q. Hossenffer

Every Nation Needs a God-Emperor!
Israel has had 5(?) elections in the past year or so. Never able to form a government with Netanyahu running the show. Last time I believe the opposition was asked to form a government in 30 days or so. Not sure where they are at this point.

As for the election: https://foreignpolicy.com/2021/05/14/israeli-palestinian-fighting-netanyahu-political-lifeline/

"[The opposition] just last week seemed ready to set aside their differences in order to unseat [Netanyahu]. But he now appears to have neutralized the political threat, thanks in part to the escalation with the Palestinians—which has stoked nationalist passions and made it more difficult for the opposition parties to come together."

Who's going to be around to start the Middle East 2028 thread?

Mr. Daystar

What makes you think the Middle East will even be around in 2028?

Is it possible Netanyahu is trying to increase and solidify his power by creating a shitstorm to get people to wring their hands? Or is Netanyahu just trying to thin the herd using an elephant gun on fish in a barrel?

So, he stirred shit up with the Palestinians to maintain power?

That is utterly despicable.

He's vilifying an ethnic/religious group within his country and using military force to persecute/kill them, in order to solidify his political base and consolidate his power?
...gee, where have we seen that before?

What I heard was pretty much the same thing that bubb did. Netanyahu is sweating bullets trying to form a government to stay in power. It seems like he's having a difficult time. If he instigates something he can claim the retaliation was the initial aggression to make his people fearful and run into the loving arms of Strongman Bibi.

All multicultural societies are fucked up and fascist.

Some Palestinians admire the Nazis, so where could the hostility between them and the Jews come from.

This is not complicated at all like Michael Brooks says. RIP Michael. Imagine you had Jewish refugees in Gaza and West Bank and an Arabic government in Jerusalem. Imagine this Arabic government bombing Jewish citizens indiscriminately in Gaza and enacting an embargo whereby provisions would be blocked from entering Jewish Gaza and in the West Bank Arabic settlers uprooting Jewish citizens from their homes and security forces terrorizing them. How do you think the world would react then?

Imagine if Mexico was lobbing rockets into Texas or California. Or if Canada was firing into Minnesota, Montana, New York, et al. The US would be all over them.

As for your question about how the world would react: the world would probably do "not much" other than send terse diplomatic messages. Quite similar to our current reaction.

Quite a broad statement and not really true. Some factions in multicultural societies are fucked up and fascist. Everyone needs an enemy - race, religion, gender, sex orientation, et al. Monocultural societies don't work very well.

All of this arises from an imbalance of power. Israel has the power. The Palestinians do not. The Palestinians should be upset with Hamas's supporter Iran.

It is a great sin if a nation supports two different religions at the same time.

A dozen people, including a child, were killed in Israel, while the Palestinian Health Ministry said Thursday that 232 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip, including 65 children.
1:20 ratio in deaths pretty much tells the story.

While it's great to hear we might see a temporary ceasefire, I notice that there's been no word on a stop on the evictions that started all this. How hard is it for them to just give them that?
