Michael Vick signs 2-yr deal w/Eagles

If Vick's life were judged only in terms of him being a football player he wouldn't have done a stitch of time for his crime. As we would have held him being a football player absolves him of culpability from anything. Because that absurdity is not true he was brought to justice for the crimes he committed. Just like we shouldn't judge him only in terms of being a football player, he equally shouldn't be judged on the sole terms of crimes he committed.

The man served the time there was on the books according to his plea agreement. He appears repentant and is moving forward with the rest of his life.

With respect to this, why can't we?

Because He willingly, with intent, unmercifully, without remorse MURDERED life on several occasions, not in a quick manner either, but in a torturous, severely painful fashion.. sorry to say this but m. vick is a piece of shit in the truest sense of the phrase and he deserves nothing, NO respect, NO remorse etc.. fuck m. vick. :2 cents:

I suppose you don't eat meat. If you do, by extension there are those who may hold you in the same regard.:2 cents:

Ahhh but what % of those people are bean sprout eating MF'ers & vegetarians? whats the % of the world population that are indeed vegetarian? maybe 10% @ best, so how many % of humans eat meat? my guess would be in the 90% tile range, So 10% of the population thinks I am a piece of shit cuz I eat meat to survive, meat for nutrition...

From the start of time animals hunted other animals to survive, we humans are animals that use other animals to feed our population, However those that kill for greed, $, lust, envy, jealousy, & every other reason under the sun, besides for food & self defense, have no right taking another life of any kind.

DOGFIGHTING? thats a fucking retards mentality, I have no remorse, compassion, respect for any scummy MF'er that are into that, I don't even like that chicken fighting :bs: or pitting any animal against another animal for sport... its dispicable ever wonder what you'd say to your little boy or girl when they see that & start crying?? oh don't worry its for grown folks to have fun & make $. thats :lame: as all hell. anybody who sports that mentality is a piece of shit. NOT just m. vick he just got caught & looks like the biggest piece of shit. :2 cents:

:dunno: I said "there are those". Seems by your calculations you accept the notion.

Humans also kill animals for sport. Virtually any Sunday during hunting season you can tune-in to ESPN and catch "Bambi" getting smoked by some guy perched in a tree.

Culturally and historically we've largely been conditioned to accept there being some difference between domesticated animals, livestock and wild animals.

Ironically, animal rights types and people who are inclined to dog fight and cock fight view all animals as the same. They only part ways with respect to the extremes in which they believe animals should be treated.

More fuel for the fire. A few years after Vick got drafted four women alleged he gave them herpes. He allegedly told them his name was "Ron Mexico" and that he was an NFL player.

Word got out and several smartasses bought Starters Falcon #7 jerseys with "Mexico" on the back. Because of the widespread incidence Starter started the policy of no personalized names on the back of the jerseys.

You stay classy, Ron Mexico.

:dunno: I said "there are those". Seems by your calculations you accept the notion. ?

Actually I really don't give a shit what somebody calls me, as long as they don't step in my face & dis me, violate my rights in any way, or hurt my family they'll continue living unharmed & in peace, but if any of those instances are breached or violated they wouldn't remember anything after they fucked up, period. homie don't play dat.

Humans also kill animals for sport. Virtually any Sunday during hunting season you can tune-in to ESPN and catch "Bambi" getting smoked by some guy perched in a tree.

IMO its not only Retarded.. its literally disgusting I have no respect for people who hunt, if they eat the animal they kill I guess its cutting out the slaughter house, and providing their own meat. I don't like it, but if the kill is eaten, atleast it wasn't a wasted meaningless kill.

Culturally and historically we've largely been conditioned to accept there being some difference between domesticated animals, livestock and wild animals.

Anything to support Vick and peoples activities and actions by pointing out how animals are viewed, that just proves that man, takes advantage of its superiority of power & thought..

Ironically, animal rights types and people who are inclined to dog fight and cock fight view all animals as the same. They only part ways with respect to the extremes in which they believe animals should be treated. ?

More :bs: too support vick & the like. I have no issues with you HM, I just find alarming that people support Vick, forgive him for what he did, and think he deserves what he had before all his crimes took place. I say :nono: he doesn't deserve the chance, the support of the fans, @least not playing in the NFL, after what he's done.. :2 cents:

I must have ESP cuz I knew this was gonna venture into the discussion, and I almost brought in, in my last post but I didn't, I wanted too see if you were gonna go here, I personally love boxing & especially MMA, these men & women, train to fight, they sign waivers, they have to be registered, they have to meet a whole bunch of specifications & rules to compete in these fights, & they do so cuz they wish too do so, they are the ones who decide to enter the ring & withstand the punishment received, they make their own decisions on whether to fight or not, unless they are blackmailed, extorted, or somehow threatened by somebody, which is a possibility, depending on the fighters habits, propensity for illegal activity, & what they do outside of the ring, but for the most part these people are making their own decision to fight or not... :2 cents:

like I said HM I got no beef with you, & I hope you don't take any of this personally, but I just can't fathom how people forgive, support, & respect this guy after his deplorable actions off the field, MURDERING animals. I can't, don't, & won't ever give this guy any respect, support, or any right to be in the NFL ever again...

I haven't defended nor supported anything in this thread but the concept of moving forward after an unfortunate event. With respect to my responses to you I've simply offered challenges to some of the premises you assert in an effort to find the consistency.

You continue to be baffled at how those who've forgiven or even support Vick can do so. I've tried to suggest to you that people, being different have different perspectives in this case on things like animals, forgiveness, etc.

I'm trying to tell you that JUST AS there are those who see nothing wrong with hunting a deer, there are those who see nothing wrong with pitting animals against one another for sport. Consistently so, JUST AS there are those who find hunting deplorable and despicable, there are those who find pitting some animals against each other deplorable and despicable.

Rightly or wrongly there is a perspective by some who view all animals as just animals. They see the fact that nature pits these animals in mortal conflict everyday in the wild, people hunt animals for food and sport so cock fighting and dog fighting (for example) are never rationalized morally to them. However, the average person (like me) sees "Fido" as a companion that in many cases enriches the lives of us humans. Some see "Fido" not merely as an animal nor merely a pet, "Fido" to some are equal parts of their family, if not considered their "kids". That said, the palpable outrage is understandable....that's why he went to prison and subjected to forfeiture things no amount of money can ever replace.

He's shown remorse for his actions...now the question becomes, what more should we expect or want from the person?

As far as whether or not you have ESP..I'm not so sure because anyone should expect whether you accept any degree of pugilism after you make a statement like this, "I have no remorse, compassion, respect for any scummy MF'er that are into that, I don't even like that chicken fighting or pitting any animal against another animal for sport... its dispicable..."

ESP? ...I'm thinking probably just ESPN.

I appreciate your assertions as I'm fairly sure you appreciate mine...I don't take any discussion irrespective of how passionately argued personal.

I've been a lifelong Philadelphia EAGLES fan and I'm sure not running away from everything I put into this team now. I believe Michael Vick served his PUNISHMENT in jail for 1 and a half years. I believe in the judiciary branch of our country doing it's job. I'm fine with him signing, giving him a second chance and move into the future. I want him to turn a page as much as I want to in my personal life.

I was astutely aware of all the parallels you were touching on when breaking this issue down, and you make gr8 points, but all in all, sport not sport, animal against animal...etc.. the whole mentality towards animals and that's fine and dandy, but I am past the actual act of dog fighting or pitting animal against animal issue.

I am caught up on or shall I say STUCK ON the MURDERING & TORTURING ASPECT INVOLVED I See & consider vick as a Moronic A$$Head for fighting dogs & that part of the equation, but its the MURDERING / TORTURING that's IMHO inexcusable, beyond forgiveness, animal or not, and I think that's "SICK FUCK" territory were talking about.. & like I said, he doesn't deserve the respect, the remorse, or the forgiveness too any individual capable of what vick aka A$$Head did. flatout.

the ESP & ESPN I won't bother with that, you hurt my feelings with that there. :D:rolleyes: but the whole issue we seem to separate @ is his actions after the fights, I guess allot of ignorant fucks are still gonna fight dogs & other animals.

the degree of separation where I think the most heinous despicable & deplorable aspect of vick & what he did is his "SERIAL DOG MURDERING & TORTURING HABIT" he seems to have, that I determine him to be such a deplorable human being that if he was on fire he doesn't even deserve to be pissed on IMO.

p.s. vick has extreme mental health problems/issues with him having no regard for all the lives he slew of our beholders beloved creations. vick should still be in prison, and if not prison certainly a mental institution and definitely not on the cusp of enjoying and no less profiting getting wealthy again for all the evil he has committed. :2 cents:

Aye, everybody hatin but the man gotta start putting the pieces to his life back together, this is his second chance (cue Shinedown) unfortunately it starts in the second roughest sports town next to the Chi...Philadelphia. Good Luck Vick.

I think it was more of a morale decision and not a football one. I think they firmly believe that Andy Reid and McNabb can have a positive influence on him.

Well let's set aside the torture for a second because the facts relating to that claim have to do with statements made by those seeking to cut a deal through testimony against Vick. From what I've been able to tell, it's not clear Vick spent any significant amount of time at that residence and the management and operations of that dog fighting ring was largely handled by someone other than Vick. It was Vick's property...he was shown to basically be the front for the operation and he took the prescribe fall for it.

But to the murder claim....as callously as this may sound, the practicality of it is this. How does one in that situation put down a dog who is near mortal injury? Keep in mind, there's no way Vick nor his associates could take any dog to a vet with tale tell signs of fighting...gunning them down presents it's own set of problems in some cases and it's not likely they have the means, skills or drugs to humanely put the animal to sleep.

In those cases, how would someone kill a near fatally wounded animal? More specifically, how do you think people like them would be inclined to put down an animal in that condition?

Again, non of this is an excuse, defense, etc. Just a reflection of what most likely was the case and putting the circumstances in a perspective of the reality.

the deal does not make sense. the eagles got mcnabb and kolb already.

Vick is in Philly due in part because of McNabb. They are close friends and it was likely the combination of McNabb and Tony Dungy (A man I consider one of the best people on the planet by any standard) that convinced Reid and Lurie to make the deal.

It's not like killing a dog was a one time thing for Ron Mexico, either. He systematically electrocuted, drowned, body slammed or hanged an untold number of dogs over several years. It's not that he made bad decisions, which he did. It's that he made it a lifestyle and he was enabled by everyone in his entourage.

I hope someone puts him out of football in such a way that he understand the suffering his dogs endured for his entertainment.

Vick knew about the operation, bought the dogs and fronted the enterprise. It is probably as likely Vick was the specific guy committing those acts on those dogs as a mob boss being the trigger-man in mob hit.

His co-defendants avoided additional charges under RICO by coinciding their testimony against the "big fish" Vick.

All of the evidence in the case puts Vick at that residence an scant number of times.
