Have to get more familiar with those other bands you listed too but definitely heard some of 'em, just can't remember the heaviness.

some awesome bands mentioned so far..one i recently discovered that is worth looking into and following as they progress is Battle Beast, a newer Finnish power metal band with a chick vocalist, they have a great thing going IMO and are definitely one to watch

These are not new bands, but bands that I have always liked. Been listening to these bands since the the late 80's to early / mid 90's. Of course, there are just too many bands for me to post all of my favorite bands, but here are a few that I like from You Tube.

There is a local band in Detroit I'm really digging right now called Cellblock Earth

More prog-sludge than melo-death or speed, but Mastodon has released the artwork for their new record, and I'm psyched.

Thanks for the update. I'm trying to get into Mastodon. They are really good, play great live, and are in a genre and sub-genre of music that I like. There is just something missing, or a barrier, keeping me from being connected with their music. I do enjoy it but wonder why I don't go completely nuts over it.
