Floyd Mayweather Jr. made his big return to HBO's reality series, 24/7. This time the series follows Mayweather and his May 1 opponent, WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley, as the two fighters prepare for their HBO pay-per-view mega-bout. Mayweather's trash talk in previous editions of 24/7 made the series a must watch show. As usual, Mayweather held nothing back during the program.
"Well, you know how these b*tches is in the sport, total disrespect," said Mayweather, describing the incident from last September, when Mosley challenged him in the ring before a live pay-per-view audience. Mayweather had just finished dominating.
The show played back to Max Kellerman's moderated interview with Mosley and Mayweather. During that interview session, Mosley reminded Mayweather about a conversation the two of them had a decade ago. Mosley told Mayweather during the Kellerman interview - "you said, 'I think you're a great fighter and I want to be just like you.'" Mayweather, also during that interview segment, denied making that statement.
During 24/7, Mayweather once again reflected on the statement made by Mosley - and went wild.
"Shane, I barely know who the f*ck you are. F*ck you mean I want to be like you? How do I want to be like you? Come on man, I'm the face of boxing. I'm the cash cow. I hold the record for pay-per-view....me! For the highest gate....me!" - Mayweather said.
"I saw him at one press conference wearing a green suit. I said 'my man, it's not St. Patrick's day.' You're not Money Mayweather so why are you wearing money green. You are not getting the biggest paycheck. You are getting your biggest paycheck facing me. Without me, you're not getting sh*t. I made more money in my last two fights than you made in your entire career."
And later Mayweather said the same thing - "How do I want to be like you when everyone wants to be the uno. The kid got a Jheri curl and it's 2010. He woke up in a hottub time machine. Shane Mosley said Floyd Mayweather fights for money. You f*cking dummy, I'm a prizefighter."
As the welterweight mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosley draws closer, a lot of interesting scenarios have been discussed. Mosley's trainer, Naazim Richardson, has a very interesting one. If Mosley is lucky enough to sweep the first five rounds, Richardson thinks there is a possibility that Mayweather will mentally give up.
"We could get through five rounds of this thing up 5-0," Richardson said to the Los Angeles Times. "At that point, Mayweather may just say, ‘Forget it, I've got a rematch guaranteed. Try again next time.' "
The uncle and trainer for Floyd Mayweather Jr, Roger Mayweather, says WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley will need a good jab if wants to have any shot in the May 1 mega-fight. Without the jab, Roger has no idea how Mosley will prevent his nephew from staying on the move. Mosley's biggest critics as the fight draws closer have been the Mayweathers. Both Roger and Floyd have focused on Mosley's lack of a good jab.
“How does he cut Floyd off?” Roger Mayweather told the Grand Rapids Press. “He’s got to find some kind of tactic to stop Floyd from moving, stop Floyd from jabbing. I don’t know what his plan is. Trapping the guy, keeping the guy in the corner, keeping him where you want to keep him at -- it’s a hard thing to do, especially if you’re going to have to use the jab to do it. That’s why I say it’s a very difficult fight for Shane.”
Shane Mosley claims that the random drug tests conducted so far by the US Anti Doping Agency were “very strict and aggressive” but admitted that he learned a lot of things with the USADA testing.
Mosley was speaking after a workout in Pasadena, California on Monday and despite the invasive nature of the random blood and urine tests Mosley said “I think its great” even as he maintained that the Nevada State Athletic Commission should also conduct random blood tests. At present the NSAC relies on urine tests but have in the process detected several cases of use of illegal drugs, the latest being Ali “Rush Hour” Funeka who fought Joan Guzman and was found to have taken a diuretic to reduce weight which is banned in Nevada.
Mosley disclosed that the USADA officials had not disrupted his training camp and had been thorough even as he revealed that they had visited him on four occasions during normal hours and he had given them two blood and urine samples.
Los Angeles, CA - Sugar Shane Mosley unleashed a less sweet side of his mild-mannered personality on TBS' "Lopez Tonight" last night as he declared that he will knock out Floyd Mayweather when they meet in the ring May 1 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas and live on HBO Pay-Per-View®.
Lopez to Mosley: "Can you knock Floyd out?"
Mosley: "Definitely."
Lopez: "Will you knock Floyd out?"
Mosley: "I will knock Floyd out."
Oscar de la Hoya, who appeared with Mosley, was given a pair of blue boxing shoes with the "Lopez Tonight" logo on the soles in hopes Mayweather would wear them in the ring on May 1. Lopez said, "When he's down on his back I want to see the 'Lopez Tonight' logo at the biggest moment in boxing history when Sugar Shane Mosley knocks out Floyd Mayweather."
During a recent conference call with the press, Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s adviser Leonard Ellerbe lashed out at the circulated rumors pertaining to Floyd's alleged use of the drug Xylocaine. There have been rumors circulating for months that Mayweather was using the drug to the numb any possible pain in his hands. Mayweather has been plagued with hand pain for several years. According to Ellerbe, Mayweather has not expereinced any hand problems in his last couple of fights.
"For the record, Floyd Mayweathter doesn't shoot anything in his hands. That was a nasty rumor that was spread out there just because people like to do those kind of things. Floyd is a clean athlete and he's been a clean athlete from Day One. Floyd Mayweather doesn't shoot or use needles in his hands," Ellerbe was quoted as saying by Lem Satterfield of AOL's Boxing FanHouse.
"For the record, Floyd hasn't had hand problems in a number of fights, especially in the last few. What this is is that people are always out there looking for reasons to take away from someone's accomplishment. The bottom line is that when it comes to Floyd's hands, he's not having any problems, and he doesn't shoot anything into his hands. And come May 1, Shane Mosley will see for himself what Floyd will be able to do with both of his hands."
Mayweather and Shane Mosley in a random drug protocol for their May 1 mega-fight. The United States Anti Doping Agency is handling the tests, but Xylocaine is not on their list of prohibited substances.
In the second episode of HBO's reality series, Mayweather-Mosley 24/7, Floyd Mayweather Jr. continued to verbally abuse his May 1 opponent, WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley. The show began and ended with Mayweather launching verbal bombs in Mosley's direction.
The show started with Mayweather going on a verbal rampage after watching the first episode of Mayweather-Mosley 24/7. Mayweather went after Mosley, who said in the first episode that he doesn't consider money as his motivating factor to continue fighting.
"I've just seen the first episode. This dumb*motherf*cker said that he's fighting me*because other*fighters said they better than him. Man, you dumb motherf*cker you almost 40-years-old, you better be fighting for a check you dumb motherf*cker," Mayweather said.
Near the end of the show, Mayweather went off with some*more verbal damage to close off the show.
"I'm a machine because I can generate the most, not sh*tty Shane*with the*nose job, [but] me - classy, clean cut, straight shooter.*I approach everything in life*like this -*if you say f*ck me, I'm going to say f*ck you. Don't disrespect me if you don't want to be disrespected, period," Mayweather said.
Mosley doesn't seem to be bothered by Mayweather's talk.
"I don't care about the things you say. I have one goal, and that's to be the best," Mosley said.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. has no concerns about the power of WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley. The biggest advantages most experts are giving to Mosley*are in the categories of power and size. Mayweather follows the belief that great boxing ability*will always beat power and size.*He won't let Mosley land any of the power, so the advantage in*power won't matter.
"There's a blueprint on how to beat Mosley. Mosley keeps talking about his power, and how strong he is. This is not*a weight lifting contest. This is a boxing match, not a weight lifting contest. Now if it was a weight lifting contest, yeah you may win, but it's obvious that when you look at the two fighters records, and you look at the*two fighters bank accounts, and you see which fighter is a lot smarter - and that would be me," Mayweather said.
mosley is over the hill and mayweather is scared of pacquiao
Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has confirmed that Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Shane Mosley, scheduled for May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, is technically a non-title fight. The WBA's welterweight title will only be at stake for Mosley, because Mayweather has refused to pay the necessary sanctioning fee.
"This is not a WBA championship fight, but on a separate side, we are currently discussing with the WBA, for Shane, that Shane would be defending his belt. For the purpose of this call, it's bascially a non-WBA fight. The two best fighters fighting each other, that's what's at stake here," Schaefer said.
If Mosley wins, the victory would count as an official title defense. But if Mayweather wins the fight, the title will either become vacant or the sanctioning body may decide to keep Mosley as the champion. When Schaefer was asked if Mayweather had the ability to win the title on May 1, assuming he beats Mosley, Schaefer replied "no."
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is letting it all hang out for this one. Mayweather is throwing every verbal bomb in his arsenal*to anger his May 1st opponent, WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley. Mayweather is*raising the verbal battle to a new level by taking it way beyond the realm of the*usual pre-fight hype in boxing.
Mayweather is now revealing*Mosley was hit for so much money in his 2009 divorce, that he needed to borrow $2 million dollars from Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya. This time around, nothing off limits*with the pre-fight trash talk. He now questions Mosley's "partnership" status in the company, disclosing the percentage of the money that Mosley has to give to Golden Boy.
"I told Mosley that I know about [ex-wife]*Jin getting all that money from the divorce. And I also told Shane that I know about the nose job that he got. You have to ask Mosley about that one. Mosley got that nose job. Ya'll didn't know about that one, did ya'll?*I tell him that I know how he borrowed $2 million from Golden Boy. Oscar De La Hoya told me that he borrowed $2 million from him. So if he borrowed $2 million from him, and he says that he's partner in the company, then why is he giving up 20% of his pay. So now we're at $4 million? He'll probably make $2.7 fighting me [minus the other money]," Mayweather said.
Mosley had told Mayweather in the past that he's basically writing his check because*of his partnership status*in Golden Boy, which Floyd questions. He says Mosley only has a $6 million dollar guarantee [that's without a percentage of the*pay-per-view and a possible chunk of the*gate].
"How is he writing my check? Why would Mosley write me a $40 million dollar check and write himself a $6 million dollar check? That doesn't make sense. Why would you pay somebody else more than you're paying yourself? That doesn't make sense," Mayweather said.
The heat is on. WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley has fired back at Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s recent verbal attacks. During a recent appearance on ESPN Radio, Mosley took aim at Mayweather's constant comments about his physical appearance. Mosley faces Mayweather on May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
"He wants to talk about my suit. You know? He's talking about the curls in my hair, and if I'm getting a nose job, I mean, is he funny? Is he gay or something? You know, all of these different things about my personal stuff, and I'm like, 'Wow, he's reading into it that much?' So, I mean, you've got to watch out. There's different things that don't sound right. You know?" - Mosley said.
Mosley is also tired of Mayweather always bringing up his past use of performance enhancing drugs. Prior to the 2003 rematch with Oscar De La Hoya, Mosley was using drugs from the BALCO Lab. Mosley has always claimed that Victor Conte, the BALCO Lab Founder, misinformed him about the dangerous and illegal nature of the drugs.
Shane has turned the tables on Mayweather, throwing some steroid fire back at Floyd and his beefed-up security team.
"What's weird to me is that everybody on his whole team, all of his security guards, they look like they're on steroids. They all look like they're on 'roids, and I don't understand it. I mean, why does he [Mayweather] keep saying, 'Steroids, steroids, steroids,'" said Mosley.
"And, you know, I notice that Floyd always shaves his head, all of the time. His head is shaved. His head is starting to look a little bigger. You know? Maybe, I mean, he has all of these people around him that's on steroids, maybe he dibbles and dabbles a little bit. The guy that keeps talking. You know, the guys that usually talk about it all of the time, 'Oh, steroids, steroids, steroids, oh, oh.' They're usually the ones on it."
"I'm not accusing him, I said, 'Usually.' I didn't accuse anybody of anything. Like I said, the guys are going in the gym, and they're doing weights and all of that, they look like they're on roids, for real. You've got that type of company around you all the time, then nine times out of 10, you're doing something."
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is not bothered by the recent trash talk from WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley. The May 1 battle has yet to happen - but*Mayweather feels he's already mentally broken Mosley down. During a recent radio interview with ESPN, Mosley fired off a few verbal shots of his own at Mayweather.
During the last few weeks, Mayweather has been going off about Mosley's divorce, Mosley's financial issues, and questioned Mosley's partnership status with Golden Boy Promotions.*Mayweather used all of those items to bait*Mosley to engage him in a war of words. Mayweather feels he already has the upper-hand going into the fight.
"Shane's trainer said he's not going to get involved in a back and forth debate. Well once again we baited him in. He's going back and forth and that's something that he said he wasn't going to do. He wasn't going to be trash talking. He wasn't going to back and forth. He wasn't going to get baited in to doing that. I guess we up 1, because we baited him in to talking trash because that's something he said he wouldn't do. He said he wouldn't stoop that low. Obviously it's not that low if he stooped to that level," Mayweather said.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is sticking true to his infamous statement - "all belts do is collect dust." BoxingScene.com reported on Tuesday that Mayweather's*bout with WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley, on May 1 in Las Vegas, will be a non-title fight. Mosley*wanted to defend his title. Mayweather had no interest in the title.*When asked as to why, Mayweather didn't mention the sanctioning fee.
"I did not want to fight for the WBA title. At this point, it's all about enhancing my legacy," Mayweather said.
"I've done a lot of things in this sport, things that a lot of fighters weren't able to do in the sport and didn't do in the sport. This fight with Shane Mosley will enhance my legacy."
Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather's adviser and CEO of Mayweather Promotions, issued similar comments.
"At this level it's not about belts. It's about building his legacy, and money," Ellerbe said.*"Floyd is already the best fighter in the world. Why does he need to fight for a belt to prove that?"
The fight is less than a week away and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is still firing a mouthful of verbal blows in Shane Mosley's direction. The fight takes place on May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. During the latest edition of HBO's reality series, Mayweather-Mosley 24/7, the flamboyant fighter vowed to pick up where some of Shane's past opponents have left off.
"Shane is thinking about the fight. I'm thinking about the check. He's thinking about hitting me with his power, his hard power, but we all know his ass already hit the deck. Vernon Forrest f**ked you up. Winky Wright f**ked you up. Miguel Cotto f**ked you up. Money Mayweather, I'm a f**k you up some more," Mayweather said.
The war of words have been heating up over the last few weeks. Even a calm trainer like Naazim Richardson has taken part in the verbal battle, and that's exactly what Mayweather wanted.
"You can never worry about what the trainer says. He's making peanuts. I told ya'll I can get in the trainer's head mentally, because from the beginning the trainer said he's not going to get into all this word play, all these arguments, bickering, back and forth, but guess what buddy - we got you because you're going back and forth now buddy. We got you buddy," Mayweather said.
And Mosley has really picked up the pace with his own brand of trash talking, which is something he never did with past opponents. Mayweather continued to pull rank by comparing their bank accounts and*added insult to injury by offering to give Mosley a job after he beats him.
"What's so crazy, once again Shane....he says the stupidest things. He said that he don't fight for money. He's 40-years-old and he don't fight for money. Well brother, I'm 33 and I don't fight for legacy, I don't fight for none of that. I fight for the check. I'm in the check cashing business," Mayweather said.
"I don't care about nothing Shane talking about. Shane broke. F**k Shane. Shane wants to be me. Shane, I told you - we'll get you a job. I'll let you hold my feet while I'm doing sit-ups, something like that."
Every time the name of Manny Pacquiao is brought up, in terms of being the best pound-for-pound fighter in boxing, Floyd Mayweather Jr. lashes out. Mayweather does not understand why certain people are*holding Pacquiao in a higher status and giving him a lot more praise. This Saturday in Las Vegas, Mayweather wants to end the*pound-for-pound debate between him and Pacquiao - by*dominating Shane Mosley.
"Manny Pacquiao struggled twice, which we really know he got beat, struggled twice with [Juan Manuel] Marquez, which we know he really lost, right?* And we know he's been knocked out twice.* And he's been out-boxed by Erik Morales, but they still give him Boxer of the Decade.* So that's something I don't understand," Mayweather said.
"He beat a Miguel Cotto who just got pummeled with a cast.* So I mean, tell me what it really is.* He beat Miguel Cotto that got pummeled with a cast and he beat a Ricky Hatton that got stretched by me.* I'm trying to find out what it really is."
Mayweather thinks the media is biased when comparing him and Pacquiao. He doesn't feel the critics are giving him enough credit for his wins over common opponents like*Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton. He thinks the critics will not give him the proper credit for the damage he plans to inflict*this Saturday. Mayweather predicts a brutal win and says the critics will make excuses on why the win was so dominating.
"We're talking about what these guys are doing.* We're talking about me.* I've been dominating since the 90's.* That's what we talk about what I've been doing.* Like I said before, when guys like this fight De la Hoya and then they say, "Oh, it's unbelievable."* When I fight De la Hoya, they said, "De la Hoya's washed up."* See?* Things like this that I don't like.* Like when I go out and beat Mosley,*People are*going to go say 'he's over the hill.'* It's always an excuse," Mayweather said.
"But they don't talk about how I won the title in one year.* I had the title all through my career, retired, came back and beat the number two dude pound-for-pound, but they say you was too big for Marquez, but you got too big for Manny Pacquiao. Well him and Marquez are the same size."
Since the day the fight was signed, trainer Freddie Roach picked Floyd Mayweather Jr. to win a twelve round decision over WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley. The fight is only a few days away, taking place on May 1 in Las Vegas, and Roach is still backing Mayweather to win on points. Roach doesn't think Mosley will be able to deal with the speed or counter-punching style of Mayweather.
“Mosley likes guys coming at him, that’s why he looked so good against [Antonio] Margarito, but it is not the same story when he fights counter-punchers. Manny wanted to face Margarito after he beat Oscar De La Hoya. Margarito suited Mosley down to his bootlaces. Mayweather won’t do that. Mayweather will bide his time, and he’ll be quicker than Mosley. Mayweather is a brilliant boxer, but he’s not a crowd pleaser. It may not be a great fight,” Roach told Gareth Davies of The Telegraph.
If Mayweather wins, Roach still wants the fight with Manny Pacquiao to take place. He thinks a deal can be reached on the issue of Olympic Style drug testing, which caused the negotiations to fall apart earlier this year. If Pacquiao beats Mayweather, Roach would like to see him retire. If Mayweather is not there, Roach may have to settle for either Antonio Margarito or Juan Manuel Marquez.
“Manny wants the fight. The drug testing issue is there, but we’ll come to an agreement. I’d like Manny to fight Mayweather next, if Mayweather wins, and then retire after that fight. It would be the greatest test for Manny, and he would have to fight the perfect fight. I think Manny has nowhere to go after that, and I’m just pleased he has lots of interests and businesses outside the sport,” Roach said.
WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley, 38-years-old,*doesn't see himself as an older fighter. He thinks the prime of his career is still an unfinished chapter. He wants to*prove that on Saturday night when he*steps in the ring with Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mosley wants to prove that his best is yet to come.
"I don't feel like I'm past my prime. I still feel good. I still feel sharp. For some reason I feel like I'm getting better and better. Mentally, I'm sharper than ever. I understand the sport. I understand the moves. I understand different things. Not only that, but my speed, my power and my movement is still there," Mosley told ESPN.
Mosley is not counting on his power to make the difference. He thinks his speed will present the most problems for Mayweather.
"I think what I'm going to bring to the ring is the speed. The speed that he's not really used to. He's used to being faster than everybody, [but]*when you get someone as fast as you and as big as you, and stronger than you - you get a whole different flavor, a whole different style," Mosley said.
Because of the styles, he thinks Mayweather has no choice but to make it a fight. He won't allow Mayweather to run around the ring to pick his*shots.
"Boxing fans can expect Mayweather to be in a real fight. Not someone who is a lot shorter than him and a lot smaller than him, where he can just sit there and tattoo the guy all night. He's going to be in there with a real fighter and he's going to really have to fight," Mosley said.
Less than a week until the biggest fight of his career. Shane Mosley is finishing up training camp. He is not concerned with Mayweather's speed or defense. Mosley doesn't even care about the trash talking. He still says power will be the difference when they get in close. Mayweather*says Mosley has never met a fighter like him in the ring. Mosley promises to make it a nightmare on May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
"I don't care about how fast [Mayweather] is or how good his defense is," Mosley said to the Los Angeles Times. "I'm a boxer, a puncher. I can move. I can knock you out with both hands."
"Anything Mayweather says is nothing compared to the things*[my ex-wife Jin]*said to me.
Mosley's trainer Naazim Richardson has been listening to Mayweather make claims about being the greatest fighter of all time. Naazime tells the paper that Mayweather's claims may rise up to bite him after the fight is over.
"So now I'm telling everyone I know Mayweather is the best of all time. Better than Ali. Better than Frazier. The best that God has ever molded. But if he's the greatest of all time and we knock him on his back, what's that make Shane?" - Naazim asked.
Hall of fame trainer Emanuel Steward is giving WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley a very good shot to beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. this Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. At a recent*HBO meeting, Steward was surprised*that most of the HBO crew had Mosley (46-5, 39 KOs) as an 8-1 underdog in the fight. He thinks Mayweather*(40-0, 25 KOs) is going to have a very tough time.
"This shapes up as a great bout -- better than Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya or Mayweather and De La Hoya, or Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez. Mosley will test Mayweather, get him out of his comfort zone. At 38, Mosley is still an exceptional human being. There's something special about him. He'll bring out the best in Mayweather," Steward told Detroit Free Press.
"I had a lunch meeting a few weeks ago with the HBO boxing crew -- Jim Lampley, Larry Merchant and Harold Lederman. They thought Mosley [was] an 8-1 shot. I said, I think you guys are crazy -- this isn't any runaway fight."
While Steward is predicting that Mayweather is going to have a tough time, he*gives the flamboyant fighter*the minor edge to*win a decision with his counter-punching and boxing ability.
"Floyd will pick his spots -- keep the fight outside. He'll counterpunch and fight a technical bout. He has superior speed and movement," Steward said.
"The intensity of this fight will be more than Floyd has ever faced. This is definitely his biggest test. Mosley is just big enough to attack him. It's hard to call. I believe it's a dead-even fight. ... The officiating will be the key: Mayweather, possibly, by decision."
