Because he was a White male.

BDG, you using 'dents 1's account?

Yes, this is Earth-1610. Ultimate Marvel. The regular, main continuity Earth-616 Spider-Man that we've all known for years is still alive and well.

Not sure if that eggheadery translates to this just being a different Spiderman story ala Dark Knight with Batman but if it does...:hatsoff: I agree.:o

Aye-aye-aye! Muchas gracias, el Hombre Araña !
Todos obtiene uno.

OH MY FUCK, you and this crap again... seriously? :drama:

The simple answer is, Spiderman needed new life and a new demographic, who the hell reads/subscribes to Spiderman comics nowadays anyway? ... ULTIMATE Spiderman at that. Spiderman is only relevant, to most of the population, when a new blockbuster movie comes out. The rest of the time, no one hardly gives a crap about him.

Some people (not so much on this board but on other places) who are complaining are being fucking bigots, I bet they didn't complain when Venom got replaced, it sucks that race ignites a fire under some people this much.

It does.

Different universe. Different Spider-Man.

The "Ultimate" universe exists primarily to allow some creative liberty with characters without deviating from established canon (where you can have a horny Hulk that eats people and fucks alot or a 'Clone Saga' without all the extra '90's bullshit), as well as being a introduction for newer readers who don't necessarily want to wade through 40-50 years of continuity.

But the media attention is hilarious. As they concentrate solely on the words, "Spider-Man killed", and the race change. Fuck the details.

Dear racist nerds: It's a fucking comic book. It is make believe. it is a collection of protons, neutrons and electrons; which make up atoms; which make up elements; which make up compounds; which make up dyes and inks and papers which make up a piece of paper that you look at. It is make believe. It is not real life. And you ignorant little pussies are crying about this? Seriously?
No wonder this country is getting fucked up the ass beyond the people's control.

I think it's great! Up to now most of the Ultimate Spidey stories were just diffrent takes on classic Spider-man stories. Now Maybe they can tell some original stories.
As for who who is in the costume I could care less as long as Bendis gives him a credible orgin.
As for being gay, comics have been using that for years now to show how hip they are, same way they sometimes sneak politics in as well.
As for the race thing I see as Marvel trying to get new readers, which is smart on their part.
Most comic reader are mostly white guys so getting black and hispanic readers is a smart move.
If this fails they can always bring Peter Parker back from the dead, they did with Ulitmate Gwen Stacey, and that was never explained!

Didn't they turn Ultimate Gwen Stacy into Carnage?

What makes me laugh is the forced political correctness. Every time they try to change or push classic characters into the PC arena by changing their, gender, race or origin it usually ends in disaster and you end up with stuff like the Halle Berry ghetto Catwoman movie. Instead of worrying about compelling story lines and fresh original characters they constantly worry about sucking up to certain demographics and making sure their image is progressive enough. I personally am waiting for them to give Wolverine a sex change and to make Captain America a female, Pagan, Lesbian, Eskimo.

What makes ME laugh is the same people complaining about political correctness are the same peeps who are completely oblivious whenever a white actor is cast in the hero role in an asian themed movie:rolleyes:

the movie takes place in an asian country

there will be thousands of asians cast in the movie

but for some strange reason some random white guy is the hero or focus of the movie(last samurai comes to mind)

now that is hilarious!

Halle Berry and Catwoman...though a bomb at the box office is not a good example of forcing PC through a character.

Firstly why that example is out of touch and off base IMO is for the following reasons;

1.) Halle Berry was one of the hottest (hot and in demand) 'actors' in Hollywood man or woman at the time. She had just come off of a string of highly successful movies...(in no particular order X-Men, Monster's Ball (Academy Award), Swordfish, Die Another Day, etc...).

2. One of the more iconic castings in the history of the Batman series was a black woman, Eartha Kit as Catwoman in the late '60s.

3.) Halle Berry's casting was a reprise of the iconic Eartha Kit casting.

4.) Far from a PC experiment if you know the history and some of the relevant details associated with the production and reprise. The producers apparently sought to capitalize on Halle's popularity and also the popularity of the superhero genre at the time. That particular one failed. It happens...had nothing to do with PC....good ideas can fall flat just as fast as a McDonalds in the wrong location.

5.) I stomached Catwoman and it was far from a 'ghetto' representation IMO (assuming we view the term in the same way).

What do Asians and movies have to do with a thread about comic's and Spiderman? Also The Last Samurai was an Asian character played by a great Asian actor Ken Watanabe. Obviousely you have a gigantic stick up your ass about Asians in movies so maybe you should go start a thread about that.
