I love Scorsese but a lot of studios will be jumping the 3D ship soon. It is (once again) failing as people are tired of it. Sales of 3D tickets are slumping hugely and no one cares anymore

I don't see 3D movies getting good until the invention of realistic holograms, or at least better technology than they have now. The problem is how well it lends itself to gimmicky things. If it ever caught on it would make the crappy state of movie making now seem not that bad.

I don't mind if the film is designed specifically for 3D such as Avatar or some other animated film of that nature. However live action film does not need to be 3D.

Spielberg is also making a 3D picture called tintin. Personally I don't really care about 3D but it's good that filmmakers like Scorsese, Spielberg, Cameron is experimenting with 3D because too many ppl now a days is way too conservative on 3D filmmaking. So hopefully fan goers will accept change.
