Yes, I think it should. If regulations were put into place it could be a good source of tax revenue plus it could keep the women and men in this trade more safe.

Absolutely not.. keep the Government out of it! They already have their hands way too deep in our pockets. I don't mind breaking the law if the ladies are down.

I agree. The government is probably working on it, so they can tax something else. The only reason prostitution is ******* is because they are afraid someone might make some money they can't tax.

If you can have sex legally for free, then you might as well be able to charge for it too. Tax not included.

The government needs to stay out of people's finances. Taxes are illegally taken anyway.

Yes, the sooner the better.

Re: should prostitution be legal in the u.s.

hmmm im not too sure to be honest.

Re: should prostitution be legal in the u.s.

legalize it in some areas to test it out first. then act on that

Re: should prostitution be legal in the u.s.

I wouldn't take part in it myself, but it would definitely lower criminal statistics. Just look at Amsterdam.

Re: should prostitution be legal in the u.s.

My problem is that it can spread diseases - and not just directly.

I don't want to get an STI because my girlfriend's ex did a prostitute. But then again, you should always get checked before you stick your pole into a hole.

In legalized prostitution everyone would be much more protected from disease than they are now. That's one of the major points in wanting it legal and regulated. It would slow down the spread of STD's considerably.

I guess since the politicians are allready running it, why not?

we have seperation of church and state. what ever happened to seperation of state and business? (by that I don't mean that businesses shoudln't be held accountable to public decency, aka. have to abide by the same laws as the rest of us, but that they shouldn't be subject to the graft.)

Welcome to the new Communist Amerika.

Welcome to the new Communist Amerika.

Communist America? Come on now, so you think that we should allow the disease, crime, **** trafficking and HUGE tax free incomes that prostitution now brings. Because we are infringing on their rights as Americans by regulating it?

My area news set up a website where pictures of johns buying taken on the corners of the red light district are posted for 30 days. Including arrests. Oh well, you break the law you get what you deserve. I guess doing thats not right either? I mean the law is the law.

Like I've said before, prostitution is the oldest profession and is going nowhere. It will always exist. Times and circumstances have changed and this is a different world now. Something now needs to be done to control it and make it safer for all. IMO.

tax free income, yes. the rest, no. you misunderstood me, that is exactly what I was arguing against. I said that I don't want politicians to be in bed with business, to put thier business intrests before the intrest of the public, as they so often do now. I said that business should be subject to all the same laws that we are, because I don't believe that the government should be "hands off" when it comes to imposing regulations to make sure businesses act safely and responsibily. I see that as putting the public intrest before the busines intrest. As I said before in the other thread, I think that it should certainly be legalized, and I think that with the excpetion of maybe a few ***** tactical details, we see eye to eye on this issue.

legalized, educated, yes and yes. subject to regulation for public safety, yes. run as a private business, yes. run and operated by the state, for state profit (like the lottery), NO.
