1.What tv shows do you think are especially bad?
2.Have you decreased your amount of tv time in recent years because of low quality programming?
3.Do you think dvd sales of tv shows are impacting the quality of current shows?



1. I can't stand most reality shows, and primetime news shows (Dateline, Primetime Live, 20/20). That "To Catch A..." series is really stupid and pointless. I can't believe they did "To Catch an Ipod". If you leave your stupid Ipod on a bench in the mall, yes most people are going to steal it.

2. I used to watch tv 3-4 hours a day, but now I'm down to maybe 2 - Letterman using up one hour on most days.

3. I'm not sure about this. I know I'd rather watch past episodes of shows I actually liked, instead of the crap that's on now. For XMas I'm asking for a couple shows on dvd that I like, and I'll probably be watching those instead of regular tv.

I hate tv shows on how people live, eat, cook, dress, raise their children, drive, have sex etc. It's really incredibly boring, and I can't believe that so many people want to display their bad habits on TV.

I also hate most programs about celebrities. Especially the ones about how they live, eat, cook, dress, raise their children, drive, have sex etc.

I can't even tell you what's on anymore.

I also watch Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations and I like that, but have no idea what's on ABC, Fox, CBS, NBC anymore.

DVC also knows illegally obtained software is not up for discussion here, so I don't think he meant free. I think he means join a movie rental club where for a flat rate you get as many as you can watch a month.

I happen to have some friends who collect DVDs that fall off Polish trucks (these Polish truckers can't help but speeding whilst cutting a sharp bend.)

My friends are then happy to invite me over for a private screening of their finds.

Any "reality" show (how is it reality when it is contrived for TV??).

Also, a lot of the new night-time gameshows that became en vogue after the success of Deal or No Deal totally suck IMO.

1. What I think is especially bad TV is things like Renovate My Family. I just can't watch stuff like that. It is sooooo boring to me. Survivor was interesting the first couple seasons, but it jumped the shark a long time ago. Big Brother is just crap.
2. Yes and no. I watch much less TV nowadays than I used to, but alot of times I just have the TV on in the background while I'm on the computer. Though lately I've been trying to stop that. Waste of electricity.
3. I don't think DVDs coming out are much of a factor in the quality of current TV shows.

I think the biggest problem with TV right now is how every single channel plays their 1 or 2 "hits" over and over and over again throughout the week. To me, it starts to ruin shows after a while when they do this.

For instance, I'm a big fan of The Discovery Channel, especially shows like Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs. I fucking hate it though, how there is almost a Mythbusters and/or Dirty Jobs marathon every single week. TV channels are over-exposing their good shows which is making people sick of them too quickly.

Reality TV sucks too. Once it was made public that most reality TV was scripted, they should've put an end to it. It was interesting 15 years ago when it hadn't been done before, but now that 90% of TV programming is some sort of "reality entertainment", the shows are a dime a dozen...and they're not even worth that.
