Of course you must have training to shoot these cartridges but trust me these cartridges are very powerful enough to pierce a class 2 armor vest. They are a first shot first **** cartridges mostly used for big game hunting and what is used for big game hunting can also be used for ******* criminals.

That is in deathwish3. ;) I shot with a wildey nine years ago. I once shot with it against a 4cm thick steel custom made metallic target over 50 yards. The bullet which was 475 wildey magnum bullet pierced the target with ease. Recoil on that *** was smaller than one the freedomarms 454 casull or than on a 475 linebaugh custom made colt peacemaker I fired with. The *** itself is a very accurate and the trigger is smooth enough for shooting fast. The biggest guns I have seen a policeman carying was a model 29 in 44mag and an old amt 44 auto mag.

More neat concept guns not suitable or practical for police work or most self defensive measures. Guns you do not want to start with here !! lol !

Ahhh my dear friend. You've touched a chord in this old man's aging heart! :)

I still "carry" my service 1911.
I also have my ******'s service issue 1911 - in perfect working condition.

It's my side arm of choice - over the years, my friends have suggested everything from Sig Sauer and Baretta to Magnum Research .50 cal.

And as much as they ridicule me for sticking to an "antiquated firearm", I'll never part with my 1911. It may not be the "perfect firearm" - but it is "the" firearm for me!

Glad to find another 1911 enthusiast! :D

If you have neighbors like most of us, be advised - a full metal jacket can and or will travel through an amazing amount of material before its energy dissipates as they simply do not "mushroom". Contrary to anti gunner belief that Jacketed Hollow Points are evil super dooper power killers, they displace all of they're energy on your target as a full metal jacket could go through 2 - 3 people (in a row). You need not collateral damages !! Believe me !!
I concur with this post.

I'd also like to add:

There was some mention in this thread of the deterrent effect of the sound made by the activation of the slide on an automatic handgun. I'd just like to say that if "deterrence" is your goal - you're better off with a simple shotgun. No human on Earth can ever forget that distinctive "click-clack" of the slide and what's more - in close quarters you're less likely to miss the target because of the mechanism of action of a shotgun round (anyone whose endured CQB knows what I mean).

the shooting range can be a very intimidating experience. i went just last night for the first time in about 10 years. i wanted to zero-in the scope on my shtf rifle. i had forgotten about the ambience there. depending on where you live, wading into a group of ***-nuts can be a little strange. if at all possible, find a friend you trust to go with you. every range has it's own protocols, usually clearly posted. know them, and let the staff know that you are a novice. and let us know how it goes.

Indeed there can be some apprehension when at a range full of excited whippersnappers.

The Range Officials, 99 % of the time would be able to assist new shooters with info regarding preferred off peak hours. This is a win - win as the ambience is calm and quiet which aids in concentration and focus, pun intended.

99 % of the R.O.s that I've encountered have always assisted other shooters in anyway they can. If you do run into one that is ornery and cynical, they are the exception and would be better purged as it is of greatest importance for such entities to maintain the highest standard of public relations and safety practice throughout the discipline / endeavor.

How'd the scope "0" go, Negate ? BTW, is this a bolt rifle by chance ?

Another thing that is often overlooked -

If you have a loaded ****** / ******** in the home for security, make damn certain you load up the mags and / or cylinder with hollowpoints and not Full Metal Jacket under any circumstances !

Try to find out what the police dept in your locality is using and try to duplicate that load. It works out for you in court better if, God forbid . . . .

If you have neighbors like most of us, be advised - a full metal jacket can and or will travel through an amazing amount of material before its energy dissipates as they simply do not "mushroom". VERY,VERY good point. With neighbors You don't want rounds going into the home next door.

The new Smithy M & P line have been greatly acclaimed by law enf types world over. I shot with the 9mm Luger version about 4 months ago and was extremely impressed with the overall accuracy and silky smooth, not so heavy double action trigger !! A very cozy feel in the hand as well. Makes the glock feel like a jagged mill end lol.

I like the assortment of interchangeable backstraps (on the M & P) as well !

Try this one on for size... just because I love freeones.com so much, a special treat to those of you who love freeones.com enough to still browse threads with more than 1 page... I give you a hot porn star shooting a ***, topless. SMith and Wesson M & P 9mm.
