Lara Logan Hospitalized After Assault and Rape in Cairo, Egypt

What does the local Egyptian media say about what happened to her? Everyone here is trying to figure out what actually happened during this "sexual assault."

thats because nothing happened..... they copped a feel, that is all. your little cracker girlfriend is gonna be just fine.

What happened, my friend, that, a woman was molested publicly by a frenzied mob, at the least. And humanity was insulted while she was doing her job. In my case, I couldn't have faced the mirror. Could you?

The most insulting thing in your post is your smiley. I'm deleting the same from your post. And so you flamed. I don't need to justify my action in general but I am doing it because I'm ashamed of the incident and your reaction to it.

I'm not believing this story whatsoever. Did something happen? Probably. Did what was reported happen? I doubt it.

First off, there isn't any real concrete info! For the NEWS not to report much NEWS, regarding their own NEWS anchor is shady at best.

Second, the story doesn't add up. A gang rape + video (apparently) + public place + a multitude of Egyptians + white news lady + multiple woman rescue attempt + 20 Egyptian soldiers save the day = HIGHLY DAMN UNLIKELY. When the fuck have you ever heard of a gang rape in public with armed soldiers in the vicinity? Never. So she gets raped far enough away from her crew not to help, and 20 soldiers can't respond til' after the fact...

I don't condone sexual assault at all, and I do believe something happened. Thus, all parties should be reprimanded to the fullest extent of the law. However, this is too heavy of an incident not to have details, especially when it involves a member of the media.

Sounds like bullshit and shenanigans. It don't sound legit to me. Sorry.

So what if I did go along with CBS' refusal to air the story, what about every other news outlet??? CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, etc... I haven't seen any details of this whatsoever. I find this a little difficult to accept, as the story still has major holes in it.

Also, since when is the media hush-hush about stories like this. The media has sometimes been even too detailed and knee-jerk about situations similar to this (i.e. acid attack girl hoax). Eventually more of this will come out, but right now, especially given Lara's spotted past, it seems shady.

She was raped. CBS fessed up that she was "assaulted" but didn't want to go into details for PC reasons or to taint the image of Arab males.

Too bad, as Lara Logan probably thought CBS had her back...........guess not.

So who was responsible for the attack?

“People continue to run away from the square. Many of them have got blood wounds. I could saw one man just brush past me carrying a child … there appeared to blood on his chest,” Jack said.

One pro-Mubarak supporter yelled “liars and Jews” at journalists.

Looks like it was Mubarak's thugs, they were the only ones attacking foreign journos and 'looking for jews'. Ironically these were the very same people Trident was giving his tacit approval of in the Egypt thread

I guess there must be acceptable forms of anti-semitism and unacceptable forms of anti-semitism :dunno:

Okay I get that part, but my beef is still with the lack of info and that the story presented has holes. Again CBS fessed up, but no other new organization has details about this? In this day and age, all news is very readily accessible, especially this sort of news. Lara Logan is a part of the media. There isn't a time where a media person is in some sorta bad way that details are scarce... for any reason. The longer this goes without a detailed account of situation or Lara's condition, the more I start to disbelieve the legitimacy of the brutality in question.

Sometimes i really despair of everything. If CBS wouldn`t even mention what happened to her, they should all be ashamed.Every one of them who raped her should be publically castrated.

It seems the motive for this attack seems to be what I said earlier (unless it's being covered up :dunno: ), the crowd accusing her of being as Israeli spy as she'd been detained days before the attack in Alexandria of the same charge. According to the article she was stripped, punched and whipped with flag poles and apparently covered in red marks from excessive pinching, although still a horrifying and disgusting attack it was not rape as the title suggests and this is a travesty to women who are really raped. The motive for rape is often for sexual gratification or sadistic and power/control reasons, the motive here is most likely very different, she also had armed guards who escorted her into the square and they were also attacked alongside her. I also wouldn't put it past pro government men being responsible as they try to darken the image of the protesters, hopefully they catch those responsible and punish them accordingly.

the rapists should have their cock and their hands cut with a sword.

Does anyone know if she has spoken yet about the incident? Was browsing a few forums and many people say that the people who saw the actual scene described the rape with a bearded guy holding her down and then more men penetrating her in an arabic forum.

Is this true??

Maybe some of you should learn about the Rape Shield laws and agreements that major news services abide by.

Anything reported by CBS, or any other western news service, was likely done so with Lara Logan's permission. Because she was identified by name (prohibited by the Rape Shield laws), I would say that is the case. So what hasn't been reported, as far as details, is probably because Lara Logan didn't want that reported at this time. If she feels the need to give you lot a full pornographic account at a later date, she will. But there's nothing stopping her from sitting down in front of a camera and a mic and telling exactly what happened.

It's always amusing to come to an internet forum and see people talking about an incident as if they were right there when the incident took place.

Yes, you'll notice that several people on here tend to have rather fluid and ever-changing opinions, depending on the politics of the moment. ;)

Like you, my guess is the same forces attacked Logan that attacked Anderson Cooper and many other western journalists: the pro Mubarak groups. But I don't know... since I wasn't there, I didn't see what happened and so far, I haven't read Logan's account.

As far as I know, she has not. The only account that I read was on a quasi-news site, and there it was described not as a "rape" (meaning sexual penetration), but more as abuse. What was said by a person claiming to have witnessed the attack was that once she was separated from her group, a gang of men surrounded her, pulled her down and tore her clothes off. Then they punched her and whipped her back and buttocks with some sort of rods or poles and severely pinched her breasts, genitals, etc. This witness said some soldiers and women then moved in and saved her from the attack, covered her up and whisked her away. A man who was one of her guards reportedly received a broken hand or arm trying to defend her. And this so called witness claims that she was covered in welts and bruises from being punched, whipped and pinched, but said that she had not been raped.

But again... I don't know. And whatever statement she has given has not been released to the public or press. And unless that's what she wants, I don't think it should be.

Whether raped or abused, what happened to Logan was truly horrible. But in light of the overall events, at least she is still alive... which is more than can be said for several hundred other people.
