KY Clerk Refuses to Issue Gay Marriage Licenses, Get's Jailed

Her lawyers are taking her for a ride. Every respectable legal mind that I've read on both the left and the right have said that she has no case because she's a public official. Just read Garcetti v. Ceballos

Which bodes very well when sanctuary cities are heard.

I was warned that a Ted Cruz avatar would not be a good idea, but I see The Bern doesn't offend anyone. Nice

If her conscience won't allow her to perform her job as she swore she would do, she should resign. You can't claim to be a representative of the law and then openly defy it, regardless of motive.

Hey, I have an idea. I'm going to get elected to an $80,000 a year job I have sworn duties to uphold under oath. I will then claim all my sworn duties are against my religious beliefs ,and instead of quitting that job I will not do it or at the very most try to make somebody else do it for me, while you know, still collecting that 80 grand paycheck, and you know, having almost no legal leg to stand on.

I will then bitch and moan while playing the victim and proclaiming all those liberals are against me while my ass is hauled off to court to force me to actually do my sworn duty. I will get indignant that people out there expect me to to my actual job on principle instead of allowing me to pawn it off on my underlings or somebody else in the position another county away. I will also feel indignant when I'm rightly made an example out of because of it, even if some actually when out of their way to do so. I will deserve it.

I will still be more than willing to collect that huge ass paycheck while the incompetent state I work for takes forever to impeach me for blatantly violating the law and being in contempt of court.

So the judge let's her out of jail and she gets treated like she's a rock star. Huckabee there to champion her cause thereby endorsing the notion that it's OK for citizens to defy federal law. That's what you want in a potential presidential candidate! Of course, everyone knows that Mike has zero chance anyway so this is all just grandstanding to appeal to the religious lunatics who already support him so I don't see him picking up much residual benefit from this. To glorify a woman who took an oath to uphold the law who in reality is just a homophobic bigot is despicable. She should resign if she is incapable of upholding her promise to carry out her job. If I refused to do that I was hired to do for whatever reason, I'd be shitcanned so fast it would make your head spin. The same principle should apply to her.

There are do many wrong comments on this thread that it makes my head hurt. All from arm chair legal scholars on the left. This is simple, SCOTUS nullified First amendment rights with the SSM ruling. Now they have to clean the shit out of their drawers And find a way to fix it. It is not going to be easy and I for one am enjoying watching a lowly county clerk expose this ruling 2 months later.

Yeah, let's go down that road. Starting with POTUS. The selective outrage by the left is what almost and I said almost makes it worth you guys being in power for a while. Using your rationale,Obama impeachment should have happened 6 years ago.

Apparently God didn't mind her 3 divorces

It is high time god-loving county clerks stop handing out divorces. They are an abomination and actually are the death of straight and gay marriage!
