Kobe now ties MJ in 60 point games

kobe:
plays better man to man defense
more VERSATILE scorer
more SKILLFUL passer

BLAH BLAH BLAH

Oh, and Bob McAdoo is a Hall of Famer ONLY because of his association with Magic...prior to his arrival with the Lakers, he was said to be a malingerer and a loser

:sleep::sleep::sleep:

I don't think I need to answer, some of the replies is enough.

His average might be down, but who leads the Lakers in scoring this season? No Kobe=minimal wins for the Lakers.

No Kobe = minimal wins for the Lakers? No fucking shit. The guy is an all star, scoring champion mvp. But he doesn't have to score 60 for them to win.

Take Lebron off the cavs.

Take Wade off the heat.

Take Howard off the magic.

Take the leading scorer off any team and there will be minimal wins.

And to Writers Block. Yes I did actually hear that, amongst other trades involving Camby, Amare and Shaq. But I doubt Pheonix will do L.A any favors.

You have to be either tripping on acid, or a complete retard to think Kobe is ANYWHERE near Jordan. Kobe is JUST touching top 15 all time (around top 18 or so). Kobe wasn't even the best player on the championship Lakers.

I don't even know how to go about this. Not just to veam or w.e his name is, but any of you who honestly think he's anywhere near Jordan need to stop watching basketball and do some research on the history of this sport.

Jordan was the best guard defender BY FAR. He is second in steals, EVER, and first in blocks as a guard. He was DPOY in a league dominated by some of the best big men ever in Hakeem, Barkley, Malone, Robinson. Not to mention he was up against Magic, Bird, Isiah, and some of the best teams ever assembled in the Lakers, Celtics, Pistons.

What Kobe does deserve credit for is his insane perimeter game which might be the best there ever was. He's a prolific scorer, although not the most efficient, he CAN score A LOT, a lot of different ways.

Jordan however was the better rebounder, passer, defender, more efficient offensively (Jordan shot over 50% fg for his career) and as clutch as Kobe is, Jordan was that much more.

The only thing Kobe's won since Shaq left was his rape case. On a side note, LeBron James is better than Kobe this year and has been the past 2 seasons.

Kobe who? :dunno: I stopped watching pro basketball in the 90s, when it stopped being good.

SHAQ!?!?!?! LMAO!!!!! He's probably not even in the top 50 much less 3. He can't even shoot a free throw! If they made dunks worth 1 point instead of 2 his career would be over. Also, your list is flawed...ever hear of a guy named Larry Bird?

Anyway, MJs still the best...nuff said.

You my friend ALSO need to do some research. His list is stupid, but Shaq is most definitely one of the best centers that ever played the game. He is arguably the most dominate player ever. Any team he is on becomes a threat regardless of the roster. A young player in Wade who is talented of course, became a championship team with Shaq. He is an offensive monster who literally cannot be stopped unless he's put at the foul line.

By your logic, Wilt is garbage as well. Free throw % doesn't decide how good a player is, his overall ability, accomplishments, and stats do.

So then... if they wanted to stop him, they could.....

foul him a lot? :dunno:

Anyone comparing Kobe to MJ should be banned from talking about basketball ever again.

1. Kobe wasn't even the best player ON HIS TEAM for his 3 rings. He wasn't the leader, either.

2. MJ had squat around him. The only thing separating Pippen from the guy that bags my groceries is the fact that he played with MJ. Scottie was a good passer, a decent rebounder, and a poor shooter. Thats it. What did Pippen do when Jordan left? Nothing...and they had added Kukoc during that period who was better than the taxi cab drivers Jordan had to carry on his shoulders for years.

3. Jordan changed the game as did Magic and Bird. Kobe changed nothing except for making being named after Japanese Steak cool.

4. Do you think MJ would have layed down against the Celtics last year? Celtics came in and wiped the floor with Kobe and the Lakers. NOBODY did that to MJ in the finals.

I wouldn't put Kobe in the top 50 ever. MJ is top 3 w/o argument...probably number 1.

But Shaq in the top 3?!?! We're talking about the overall best player, not the best dunker. Everybody in the NBA can dunk a ball but Shaq can't even shoot free throws much less 3-pointers, so he's not even in the same league with an MJ or Kobe. They even invented the Hack-a-Shaq strategy...for great players like MJ there is no strategy, they just try to last the game.

EXACTLY THE REASON WHY THEY INVENTED THE HACK-A-SHAQ...cuz NO ONE, AND I MEAN NO ONE can guard shaq...when the lakers won there 3 championships...shaq was the number 1 option...why did u think the past 10 of the 11 championships either duncan or shaq has played in them? dont u see a trend? it's a big man's game...shaq in his prime is the MOST DOMITANTING player in HISTORY...and were getting off topic discussing shaq...

Now you're just taking it too far. Pippen was a great player, even without Jordan. The fact that Jordan was on that team didn't help Pippen's stats too much.

When Jordan retired, Pippen was an MVP candidate that year leading the Bulls to another playoffs.

Not to mention he's also the greatest perimeter defender ever. Overrated? Yes. The same as your grocery bagger? No.

Conspiracy...
The NBA's 50 greatest players

As Oscar Robertson put it in the Philadelphia Daily News when asked whether Chamberlain was the best ever, "The books don't lie."

The record books are indeed heavy with Chamberlain's accomplishments. He was the only NBA player to score 4,000 points in a season. He set NBA single-game records for most points (100), most consecutive field goals (18) and most rebounds (55). Perhaps his most mind-boggling stat was the 50.4 points per game he averaged during the 1961-62 season--and if not that, then perhaps the 48.5 minutes per game he averaged that same year.

Kobe didn't / doesn't have the luxury of playing along side of one of the games finest 3 position (Small Foreward) players (Pippin) in NBA history !
. . .and to his credit. :hatsoff:

i was as big a Pippen fan as there was, but let's face it. . . there was a reason, and a damn good one, he was considered the sidekick! He did not have the skills to take over a game like MJ could, and often did! And when we are talking TEAM sports, Pippen shouldn't even be considered. . . remember his refusal to take part in the Bulls final play in a game against the Knicks because the ball wasn't going to him for the final shot?!?!?!

Kobe also has a great supporting cast. There is no way to win consistently without one. How many rings without Shaq?! Don't get me wrong, I think Kobe was the better player anyway, but wasn't this as potent a one-two punch as Jordan and Pippen?

Better than MJ? No way! As close as there is? Absolutely, although IF Lebron keeps improving his game, he'll be up there as well.

Kobe reminds me tremendously of MJ, from his domination on the court to the interviews in the locker-room and just his overall professional look and demeanor.

Can we discuss Kobe's place with the all time greats when he retires?? He is only 30.

I think Kobe will finish in the Top 5 Greatest off all-time!

I don't think he'll ever rank ahead off MJ unless he wins 4 more championships.

Lebron is fucking sic. Best all around player in the NBA by far. And I'm a Laker fan.

Poor Knicks though. And Raptors for that matter.
