I like Italian Cappuccino

Same here. Since you're Italian you should be able to answer this question: what is the cut off time for ordering a cappuccino, is it 10am or 11am?

Cut-Off times to order them? What? I've never heard of such a thing! Every place I've been to, you can order coffee, cappuccino, etc. any time of the day. But I'm not Italian.

heh, unlike america where its a 24 hour food trough out here, the rest of the world respects food and drink.

i can hardly imagine such a wonderful place.

but yeah, no idea. but, im sure there's people who work nights like i do who might want a coffee after 2am.

Hate the taste of coffee but it smells good. Soda on the other hand, I can drink a couple of 2 liters a day.

A couple 2-liters? Oh good lord, that's so much!

I remember an episode of Dr. Phil a few years ago that my gram was watching back when I lived with her, and there was this woman that weighed... 1,000 pounds? Or at least close to 1,000 pounds. She was huge, that's all I remember. She couldn't leave the house because she was too big to fit through the door. Anyway, she ate healthy home-cooked meals with her husband, didn't eat more than the average person, but drank a 2-liter with every meal every day, which is why she weighed so much. Soda is not healthy.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to go off on a health freak rant at you. I was just shocked when you wrote a couple of 2-liters!

:bawling:

I probably drink a 2 liter a day but sometimes more.

i don't think i've been to a legit starbucks place but i've been to the little kiosks they have in supermarkets plenty of times but there's so many espresso places around this state that do awesome coffee its ridiculous...

In Italy cappuccino is to be consumed for breakfast. From what I've learned they dont drink it past 10am or 11am. To have a cappuccino past lunch is a direct and major violation of an Italian Food Rule, at least this is what I was told. Even though I live in the U.S, I still like to conform to this rule.

Huh. That's interesting.

Here in the USA, we like breakfast for dinner!

true. but my breakfasts usually consist of chinese soup.

OK, as an Italian - not currently living in Italy, I'll try to shed some light on this Cappuccino cut-off thingy.

There is no official cut-off in Italy. You can go and order your Cappuccino at any time of the day - as long as the Place is open, and the Espresso Machine is working. So if you really want a Cappuccino for Lunch, in the Afternoon, Dinner, you will get it - if you order it.

But for the traditional Italian, Cappuccino (and Latte Macchiato) are considered breakfast-drinks, and will most likely be drunk before 10-11 AM (that depends on a variety of factors, such as at what time they get up, go to work, etc.). It will be considered a violation of traditional Food Rules to have it later on in the day - though an exception could be made for the Afternoon "Merenda"(an afternoon snack, usually sweet, around the time the British have their Tea-time). Usually Italians will have Espressi for the rest of the day, to get their dose of caffeine.

I think everyone should visit Starbucks once a while,... it's an experience more than anything. And they've just opened another 10,000 shops around the globe so it's going to be convenient! I think America is a great place for food because of the 'melting pot' - you've got every ethnic food that one can think of.. from Indian to Thai, to French, Italian, Asian cuisine.. the list is endless! Depends on whose cocking though, as some immigrants are considered top chefs back where they came from.

you hear that? America is a good place for food.

thats a first.
Well that's the first time I've heard someone say America isn't a great place to eat ;) Having been there' America is such a HUGE place.. probably the largest country in terms of usable land and.. with 300 million people from all backgrounds, there's going to be some places that are Fanatastic, and some which aren't. Don't forget lots of immigrants who've made America home have bought their skills there so it's basically a melting pot of food.. no pun intended! hahaha so there's lots of variations in quality as with any country in the world. IMO, The worse place for food would be India or China.. with the latter there's just too much oil and msg in the food, lack of quality control and there aren't other ethnicities so you're pretty much stuck with one palette

Concordo pienamente con Buggster ... nulla da aggiungere.

i totally understand what you mean. but, as a cook, its the state of ingredients in america that ruin the wonderful diversity of food.

there's no good reason our food has to be poisonous like it is.

i actually envy everyone else for their purity of food.

The US of A are not the only place where you can find every Ethnic Food immaginable.

There's also:
- Canada!
- the UK
- most of the "old" EU
- Dubai (UAE) - I think the Emirates even beat the US on pure number of ethnic cusines (though of course not on overall number :))

To the defense of the US of A, though, not all US food is bad. There's a lot of great regional cusines, which might not be well known around the world. A lot of variety and great recipies can be found. Sure "Southern Cusine" might not always be the lightest or healthiest, but it is extremely tasty. American Chefs and Cooks can be extremely talented and when it's not mass-produced food, then it can be totally awesome. Of course ingredients play an important role as well, but again, it depends on the cook and his/her ability to choose among a great variety of choices.

Yea, I think it's best to select eateries that uses the Freshest ingredients. that of course means no drive thru, but a proper 'family restaurant' operated by an old 'immigrant-ish' guy or his son, with lots of experiences :D
