I've Never Been To Starbucks

I been to Starbucks twice, it was very convenient, as the HQ of T-Mobile has its own Starbucks place, so, what the hell, I was there and got me a cup of some sort of coffee.

But hell, the prices are just crazy, so I won't go there again.

I've never been in one either, I really try and avoid branded over hyped places I try and keep it small and local :flame:

A&W restaurant car-hop > Sonic.

We just lost the old ass A&W though over this way. Loved that place. :crying:

They opened up a Sonic in the Bay Area (in Union City, of all places), and I went with the exgirlfriend once. I was greatly disappointed. Not only are their burgers mediocre, but their shakes are disgusting. I'll stick to Dairy Queen and Foster's Freeze, thank you.
This is very true. BK burgers are better.

There's so many Coffee-Shops to choose from these days - Starbucks is mainly the original among the franchisers, and in itself tried to copy and internationalize the Italian (Coffee) Bar. Strangely no Starbucks has ever opened in Italy.

Starbucks - good but not as good as in the beginnings; expensive; can be found all over the world.
Seattle's Best Coffee - fully owned by Starbucks, good coffee; cheaper as marketed to a different user base; not everywhere where Starbucks is - but almost;
McCafè - Mackie D's take on Starbucks; mostly found in-store; not available in all countries that McD's is; decent coffee, cheaper than Starbucks;
Segafredo's - Italian take on the whole hype; though it best copies the original Italian (coffee) bars it's not as good as in Italy; can vary a lot between locations;
Mr.Bleck - currently only in certain parts of Bavaria; a German-take on the concept; part of the "Der Beck's" bakery company (means good cakes and sweets); uses Lavazza Coffee;
Coffee Fellows - another German-take on the concept; found around all of Germany and some other Central-European Countries (Czech Republic; Austria);

Different Countries = different options. Some good, some decent, some to forget.

It's rare for me to step foot into a Starbucks when I'm not hanging out with a friend that wants to get something there. I'm not much of a coffee guy.

Oh, I'm not astonished about THAT ;) If you get to sip a real italian espresso or Cappucino, you won't go for any Starbuck beverages. All that syrup and goo, that is trashy.

Hi Buggster

In Italy espresso is very popular and there are a lot of coffe shop and many have own handicraft coffee roasting mixture, and you have different taste, aroma and price level, Starbucks instead give you the same taste all around the world and give you the same service in England than in Thailand.

I'm Italian, so when I traveling and if I must to take a coffee (espresso) I prefer Starbucks than other brand as Black Canyon, McCafè or others, because its more similar to Italian coffee, moreover Starbucks give you WiFi service and you can surf on FreeOnes.

Heya Mabvlox,

Oh I know that, since I am Italian too , and lived in Italy for many years of my life. Thing is, what do you do when you're not in Italy, and want a decent cup? - Then Starbucks is a good choice, exactly because it guarantees the same quality all over the world (though there are some regional differences in the specialites). Or you know places where Italians are (Circoli Italiani, Bar Italiani, etc.) though the price policy can leave you stunned. 1€ for a Cup of Brewed Coffee; 2,50€ for an Espresso at times... makes you go like :wtf:

Another good choice are the Nespresso Clubs - that is if you yourself own a Nespresso machine and are entitled to have coffee in the shops :) Just don't go to the Nespresso Club in Milan - the girls working there are really stuck-up arrogant bitches - though that might have changed since I know a lot of people were complaining. Elsewhere around the world they were always very friendly, even though I am not George.

Thank's for the advice ... I like bitches, but I hate arrogant bitches .... and I never been there, when I'm going to Milan its for job, or for to meet some friends, and usually we went at Navigli, there are many good bar and coffe shop there.

But I prefer the caramel frappes from McDonald's. They're sweeter. The ones from Starbucks are a little stronger with the coffee.

That's good to know... I just started drinking frappes from a local coffee shop and I love caramel, so I'll try one of those next time I run through McDonald's.

There are a couple local coffee places that I go to... but only because the closest Starbucks is like 45 minutes away. :shy:

Hate the taste of coffee but it smells good. Soda on the other hand, I can drink a couple of 2 liters a day.

Damn. You must live out in the boondocks. In downtown SF you can literally walk 2 blocks and pass by 5 Starbuck's. There's almost as many of those as there are Walgreen's.
