Uhhhh, dude, the U.S.S.R. never had Alaska to begin with. Not bein' a prick here, just thought I'd point that out.

The area that became Alaska was purchased from the Russian Empire after Congress concluded its resources could be vitally important to the nation's future growth.

Alaska

Do you read?

*sighs* OK, I guess I will have to spell it out for YOU:

The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) was a constitutionally socialist state that existed in Eurasia from 1922 to 1991. However, with the exception of a few interregnum periods (notably after the deaths of Lenin in 1924 and Stalin in 1953), the Soviet Union was a de facto dictatorship, with power resting in the hands of the General Secretary, which became a prerequisite for Soviet leadership.

WE DID NOT BUY ALASKA FROM THE U.S.S.R. IT DID NOT EXIST AT THAT POINT IN TIME.

Yes, I read.

I'm not too sure what is going on, but I'm a Russian history-aholic...

Galactic is right, the USSR never owned/occupied Alaska. Its predecessor, the Russian Empire, sold it to the US in 1867, about 55 years before the USSR came into existence.

Or, in other words... ^ What he said when I was typing this (Only I didn't copy and paste mine... Hee hee)

Whatever you want to call it. USSR or Empire, it's still the in the same place. Not much difference.

Very big difference. Under your logic, the USA and British America are the same thing...

I acquiesce to the semantical / "nomenclatural" puritans. :D

What were we talking about . . . Oh . .

I voted that the office of the Vice Pres. is a joke and doesn't really mean a great deal, *in most cases. :jester:

The question is loaded with bias anyway . . sorry

Yes and no. She's worse.

It doesn't matter, anyone can be Vice President, it's a silly job.

Um, as the VP you are the second in command. If something happens to the president either temporarily (feeling ill) or God forbid he/she dies, the vice president takes over. Silly job? No.

He was such a dipshit I didn't think it was possible for anybody to be worse, but she is.

As a side note, I sense a predictable love connection on this thread.... :lovecoupl

She's already worse. Dan Quail actually had a few decent moments, but unfortunately for him, he will forever be remembered for the potato incident.

Palin has not had a good moment yet. But I could be wrong about that.

I'll have to get back to ya.

Dan Quayle did have about 8 years in the US Senate & at least had a grasp of national issues ,however Palin seems to not have a clue.
