OK. I see what you mean. As long as they do it in whatever backwards, shithole country they live in, that's their business. But as soon as they arrive on our shores, they must follow OUR laws.
And another thing... we need to stop dancing around these little fringe religions... giving them special preferences. I dated a girl several years ago who had a school age kid. I asked him about his Christmas vacation once. He told me that they didn't call it "Christmas vacation" any longer. It was "Winter break" or some such silliness now. I live in a pretty conservative area. But even here, you can't talk about Christmas in public school. But if we had one of these orthodox weirdos come to town, it sounds like they'd be allowed to mutilate a baby and suck the blood off his penis???!!! Just to clarify for everyone, this thread is not against the rules. If Jenkum pulled this out of his ass at random it would be, but if you'll look at his original post he links to an article on the subject by a credible news source. If you want to have a discussion about one of the topics banned on FreeOnes (beastiality, incest, snuff, rape, etc.) and include a source for it, then we don't mind if you post it so long as you stay within the rules and do not make any statements that violate the rule.
Basically, because this is a discussion of an actual news item, it's allowed under the rules.

IMO, a person should be free to worship a rock or a tree, if he wants to. I really couldn't care less. But as soon as he involves minor children (especially babies) in whatever perverse sickness he's pursuing, that's where I call bullshit. You simply cannot have a fully functioning society if the law allows for special rules for special people. One rule of law... which applies to ALL. It cannot be like in Animal Farm: "All animals are equal (but some animals are more equal than others)."

The only misspelling he was guilty of was putting the e before the a. He should have put the a before the e at the start of the word. Other than that he was correct. It's spelled Paedophile here in the UK. In the US the a is dropped from the start of the word. Got it? Good.
And no I am not supporting him or his actions of putting threads up with the content that is in them. I was merely pointing out a cocky slightly incorrect response that was put across as the sole fact of the matter which was directed as a certain someone who seems to be hated on here is all this post is. Nothing more.

Yes, you're correct; I should have been more specific. This ultra orthodox sect is a fringe within the Jewish religion. AFAIK, this particular practice is not embraced by mainstream Judaism. Not much different (IMO) from the nutter sects within the Christian religion, the Muslim religion or other religions, which believe in practices that are not embraced by the broader, more mainstream parent religions.
Infant genital mutilation became a hot topic a few years ago. But when the discussion broadened to include boys and non-Muslims, I did notice that there was a push back. San Francisco recently proposed a ban on male circumcision for children under a certain age. And one of the first charges (push back), after the measure was proposed, was anti-Semitism. Yet, when various Western countries moved to ban female circumcision (which in some cases would have made certain adult female genital plastic surgeries illegal), there was little to no push back. The assumption was this was because only fringe sects of Islam would have been affected - and currently, that's the one religion that it's safe to attack these days. But let's be honest, Muslims can make the same cultural and religious arguments that Jews and Christians make regarding male circumcision.
I can't call myself a Mormon, join a fringe sect and marry multiple women. That would be illegal - even though all involved parties would be adults of consenting age. I can't become an Evangelical Christian and join a church that has snake/serpent handling as part of its services. That practice is illegal (every place that I know of). I can't deny my child medical treatment, just because my religion says that faith healing is the ONLY accepted method of healing. A judge will take my child and send me to jail. I'm a Romaphile. But I can't embrace Mithraism and (legally) partake in the practice of live animal sacrifice in the United States. Yet Mithraism is just as old as Christianity. I charge anti-Mithraism! Americans are anti-Mithraists! ( I wonder if that's even a real word?) I demand my rights. I demand my religious freedom!
I'm perfectly fine if someone wants to join (or start) a religion where they worship that rock that I mentioned earlier. I'm perfectly fine if they want to smack themselves in the face with said holy rock as part of their worship services. But when they bash a baby in the face with the holy rock, I don't care if they can produce a 2000 year old document written by Julius Caesar himself, which says that this is the only way to become one with Jupiter and Mars, that practice should not be allowed (in a civilized society).
I don't know Jenkum. I don't know exactly what other threads he may have started while here. I don't know what issues he may have had with other members here. I don't know what his religious beliefs may be. All I know is the First Amendment allows the free exercise of religion. But it does not give religions free reign to do anything and everything that they want, when it comes to another person's physical well being (particularly children below the age of consent).
