Isn't greed a sensible impulse to build an economic system around? In what ways is greed good? bad?
Greed is a good thing. Without greed, economies cannot flourish because greed is the engine of economic growth. Greed is what motivates entrepreneurs, innovators and leaders of business enterprises to take risks, to come up with new products, to enter new markets, to make their enterprises more efficient. By doing so they create companies, hire workers, provide new products, lower prices and amass the capital to continue their efforts
Without greed you wouldn't have the Macbook that you're using to read this post:2 cents:
That' s the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard...Einstien was on of the greatest innovators and inventors in the history of man, and he was anything but greedy..
Not only is Greed bad...It is widely viewed as one of the worst possible attributes of mankind...as being viewed by the Church as one of the "Seven deadly Sins"...Where aopn committing your Soul goes straight to Hell....Perhaps you don't beleive in that sort of thing, but I certainly do.
So you think Einstein did all of that out of the kindness of his heart, he didn't do any of it out of his own self-interest?
No...greed means you are obsessed with money and it has taken priority over every aspect of your life. Money is good, the obsession with it is bad because when you're greddy no matter how much you get will be enough.
Greed isn't good. Greed is the reason the world is like it is. People want things so they take them, they want more so they keep taking. Which makes the rich richer and the poor poorer. It's the basic starting point for wars, people want more territory so they take it, they want more oil they take it, more money they take it. I could go on but i think people get the point.
As far as building an economy around i'd say it was probably bad as well, but i'm not an expert on the economy.
Is Greed Good?
