Is California a "failed state?"

Yep. And it's taking Oregon, and eventually Washington, with it. Someday the entire west coast is going to break under the weight of all the left wing bullshit and eco-fascist garbage and sink into the ocean.

Fuckin' hippys.

California is bad, but then again the entire country went from the most powerful and rich in the history of humanity in the 60s to a failed country and on the verge of dropping real hard and quick in only two generations because of our economic system.

Yeah... everyone SO wants to live in a guns and god shithole like Jesusland....

Oregon just passed tax increases on Wealthy and Corporations. They are a state that is willing to face problems head on rather than "cut services" like cowards and cry about "taxes and big gov't" WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH

Guns and God shithole? Jesusland? WTF? Can you at least try to stay on track?

BTW, the tax increases Oregon just passed? Yeah, they're gonna fuck us even worse. We already have about five jobs to split between four million people. In five years, we'll have three. Facing problems head on.... My ass. If my state was a person it'd be a thirty seven year old pothead sitting in his parent's basement playing WoW, brushing Dorito crumbs off his chest and whining that nobody will buy him a thirty six inch LCD monitor. Oh, and his Dorito encrusted shirt would have a faded screenprint of Che Guevara on it, because life is all about "fighting the power."

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I am dumb so explain as you would a child, why can the state of California not be split into 2(or 3) different states? North California for the Dems, South California for the Reps, and New Tijuana for the illegals.

When you can't walk around at night in ONE large city in a state without lethal protection, I'd say it's safe to say it's a "failed" state. :ban2:

God forbid I feel sorry for the people on the southern border of that state. It's damn near a war zone I hear in San Diego.

And whoremaker, you're killing me. :)

yep, they say those who forget history are damned to repeat it.
seems like california is going in the same direction as did ancient egypt and more recently rhodesia.
i'm surprised by now there is not a mass migration of people going out of that state, maybe there is.
its gonna fall, whats gonna stop it?

questions like the op stated really get me thinking.
so many want and expected a multi-cultural USA , well it worked great for a long time, about 120 years,
but i forsee the future of the USA as one big segregated country in the future.
california is the first hint of this i believe
i know its somewhat off topic but i think it relates to the original post.

Interesting article. Perhaps California needs to promote some industries that deal with physical reality? Also in reference to eco fascist shit they could actually make money out of the green option if they could pioneer something that can be produced like I dunno exhaust filters or eco friendly exhausts which stores CO which can later be packed and stored underground or some dung:D There you got a product now all you need is factories:p

Naw but on a serious note amazing really, Article like this. Its like hey look at california they are fucked maybe things arent so bad here lulz.

I am sure they will meet the challenges presented to them. Whether that will be under the current administration I cannot say.

The only difference between that mult-culti state (the one of the first half of America) is that although they were technically "multi-cultural," they had a common European ancestory.

And you complain that I can't stay on track? You were the one that posted bullshit about Oregon in a California thread....hmmm....yeah, I SOOO see the connection:rolleyes:

Your brilliant analogy about the 37 yr old pothead is a tired retread cliche which could correspond to anything. If GM was a person...If NBC was a person..basically any entity struggling can somehow fit the parameters of the 37 yr old pothead. AMERICA is that pothead. He will still be living in his parent's basement because there are no jobs for him and he's been conditioned to feel entitled to luxuries his entire life by 25 :dunno: How fresh:sleep:

Oregon and Washington aren't on the same fucking field economically as California. It is easy for me to say "Oregon and Washington State will 'recover' before California" because California will never recover, not until the state faces the music financially as Oregon did:wave:

overspending and living above your financial means is not the solution to solve your problems and not a good way to manage money

There are so many problems with the state of California... aside from the costs associted with monitoring and policing the international border (illegal immigration, human/drug trafficking etc.), unscrupulous spending and the bane that is the ever burgeoning entitlement culture, IMO one of the most pressing matters in California is the welfare state that we have created.

To my knowledge CA's population is roughly twice the size of the state of NY, yet we have 5x as many welfare cases. And as a whole, roughly 33% of all welfare cases nationally are residing in CA. Of that percentage, only approximately 22% of those individuals work. The lifetime welfare benefit in CA is currently set at 5 years, and provides neither incentive to find employment nor punishment for failing to do so. All of these factors contribute to longer stays on welfare, a sedintary attitude about finding employment and a feeling that the paternalistic state will provide, regardless of effort or attitude towards removing one's self from the welfare rolls.

I'm not as thick as to think that addressing this matter alone would solve CA's economic woes for good and all. But IMO this is the epitome of the economic system in CA, in which we spend money without foresight and without demanding results.

Humor me for a little bit and tell me what ancient Egypt, Rhodesia and California have in
common.

I remember that you had an odd fascination with Rhodesia when I first got here, but you have GOT to tell me this story. Just tell me if Schwarzenegger is going to play the part of Alexander the Great (ya know, the Greeks ;)) or Julius Caesar. :D

Back on topic... as a state, California is pretty fucked up fiscally. Not to the point of being a (completely) failed state, IMO. But it is a mess. Socially? :dunno: It's a huge state. Some places are better than others. Compton and East L.A. have very little in common with Palos Verdes or Monterey. The perception of what it's like socially probably depends on where you live... like most every other place on the planet.

I would say Rhodesia is pretty self explanitory. It was the most prosperous country in East Africa, and then in the name of "multi culturalism" - more or less - Mugabe came in with his corrupt family and took everything the country had to offer. It is now a shithole Zimbabwe and will never be the same.

I should say about my statement above: that's what I think the situation is there.

If you want to find an historical parallel which involves Rhodesia, try the tale of George Armstrong Custer and the 7th Cavalry. ;) As best I can recall, Custer was (only) outnumbered 4 to 1 by various Indian tribes. The Rhodesians, on the other hand, were outnumbered by something like 22 to 1. The Rhodesians eventually gave up for the same reason Roberto Duran screamed "no mas!" during his fight with Sugar Ray Leonard: people getting their ass whipped eventually want the pain to stop. When your racist buddies in South Africa look at you and tell you hat you're too fucked up for even them to support, you must be really fucked up. Zimbabwe is a pretty fucked up place now, from what I've read. But it was always a fucked up place for the majority of the population there. This notion that it was some sort of heaven on earth is purely a fantasy.

Fiscally, I might compare California to Argentina in the late 70's/early 80's - just in how the government there has mismanaged the finances (with the help of the proposition voters). Socially, it is being overwhelmed by (illegal) immigrants. That's hurting them socially and fiscally. But I can't think of an historical parallel linking California to either Rhodesia or ancient Egypt (conquered by the Greeks and then by the Romans).

I think what meesterperfect is getting at (just a guess here based on his prior posts :D), is that a White population is being pressed by a non-White population. I'm fairly certain that's why he brings up Rhodesia so much. It's that Egyptian link that I'm dying to hear. I could actually help him make a link to Rome in the mid to late period of the Empire that would probably work. But he's on his own with this Egyptian thing. :1orglaugh

It's 21.8% actually. Still alarmingly high but nowhere near 33.

I live near San Francisco and travel to L.A. on business a lot. Both downtown areas are populated with lots of interesting clubs, restaurants, bars, hotels. I never feel in any more "danger" navigating either of them than I might in any other major urban setting outside the state.

Fact remains, Rhodesia was the most prosperous country in most of the continent of Africa. And other fact - that shithead Mugabe and his family looted the country - also remains. It's also undeniable.

And to rephrase the last part of your post - I prefer one culture was being pressured by another culture. That would be correct.

Hey Rey C., what is the black on white murder/and rape rate in the country of South Africa at right now anyway? That would;nt be racially motivated by any chance, would it? :1orglaugh

Since LA is a city, then East LA counts. It's rotten. it's garbarge. It's no good to live there for normal Americans, period.
