Illegal Downloading Screen

So I was downloading some stuff earlier when my computer froze and only the desktop was shown for about five seconds and then my webcam was turned on automatically and a separate screen appeared basically saying - "this is the US government and we've caught you red handed" it displayed my I.P. address and several other things like my internet has been locked.


I'm assuming it's a virus considering my internet is still on?

This is a pretty common ransomware that did really well in the past 2 years. If the government was to catch you 'red handed' you'd already be in jail.

Google it, figure out which one is on your PC and get rid of it.

I remember it was some E-crime unit thing or something it said. And that my PC wouldn't be unlocked until I paid a fine. I just thought to myself "aye right go fuck yirsel's ya bastards" and I wiped the HDD with the full destructive recovery option. Then googled the bastard when it booted back up to see what was going on. I found out I could boot up in safe mode and remove the bastard without wiping the drive. FUUUUUCK!!!. But in the end I suppose there was no real loss. Just over 100Gb of Metal you know the usualy stuff lol

It's known as 'ransomware'. It can be removed by using something such as malwarebytes. Be careful when downloading - especially from some of those tube sites.

It is the FBI Moneypak virus and it is EVERYWHERE right now. It has even overcome Safe mode on your computer. Watching internet Porn is risky nowadays.
