I can't believe how heartless some of you are being! Seriously. Even if people who talk about suicide don't actually commit it, who cares?? They're still in enough pain that they feel the need to contemplate the idea! I'm not saying you guys have to coddle the OP and try to talk him out of it but why even post in here at all if it's just going to be a negative comment??

Everything seems like it sucks right now, it could be worse. You want to know what's better than suicide? LIFE! If things aren't going how you'd like them to, maybe it's time to move, start over, become someone new! There's no reason you can't pick a nickname, change your wardrobe and your attitude and become somebody completely different! Be the person you see yourself wanting to be. There IS a girl out there for you and you know what? She's going to be one freaking happy chick when she finds out you waited to find true love before giving yourself away! I have no sympathy for people with petty problems like never kissing a girl or whatever. If he wants to end his life because of something so stupid, we're all better off.

An aloof approach to the subject of suicide is a common approach for those who don't understand mental illness and cannot relate or sympathize. Unfortunately, these same individuals are typically vocal and fail to understand that "tough love" usually doesn't help in these situations.
We also have to share the internet with individuals who are simply careless, and some (thankfully relatively few) others who regard the subject with glee and/or malice.
Whether or not the OP was serious is not the issue, and 'reasons' are not the issue.
Desperate minds do not make good decisions.
If you are not comfortable with the subject, or not willing to show empathy, then it is better to keep silent.

Well, that's true, I'm 38 and haven't been in a serious relationship in about 10 years or so but I'm not about to off myself because I don't have a GF right now. Like the OP, I would get the blues at times on previous holidays but whatever, nothing a "working girl" can't fix, just remember to treat her like a lady. But then again, I did bust a nut in a girl for the first time when I was 19, and it's a good thing I live near the Mexican border where I can go get me some not too expensive pussy every weekend (if the weather's nice, if it's raining forget it!) while the "right" girl arrives.
