Re: 'I didn't think of Iraqis as humans,' says soldier who raped & killed 14 yr old g

Everyone is insane... it's just a matter of degree. And it certainly doesn't EXCUSE behavior. :2 cents:
He's right. Everybody is insane.
I've said it before and I'll say it again Saddam is exactly the type of brutal tyrant that the melting pot that is Iraq needed to maintain stability. Look what's happened since he was displaced, the FANATICS have come in and are killing everyone. Very soon every Christian (who Saddam protected in his secular non muslim government) in Iraq will either be dead or have to flee the country as the radicals that Saddam suppressed are free to wreak havoc. For this reason Bin Laden and the radicals hated Saddam as he come down hard on any radicals in Iraq, with him gone you're gonna see a lot of radicals coming from Iraq to wage war on the US, especially ones that lost family in the conflict and not to mention a now Shia governed Iraq joining forces with Shia Iran .

And what example have you set. Saddam had a crap army no planes, no tanks, no ships and no big guns yet you spent 7 years in Iraq and just left with your tail between your legs and a country in chaos. This very thread is a testament to how your troops are cracking under the pressure. The way I see it 10 years ago no one dared challenge the US as they feared what the US military could do, now after these atrocious Iraq and Afghanistan wars which Obama is desperately trying to squirm out of you get countries like Iran, Venezuela and North Korea all mouthing off and pushing the limit as they've seen the US struggle to defeat a bunch of ragheads as you call them and they know the US can't fight another war, you have neither the money or the public and international support. And most of those 9/11 terrorists were from Saudi Arabia and Pakistan yet you don't say shit or do shit to them countries, they might as well just laugh in your face.
Guess what religion the Iraqi pilot who flew a MiG21 to Israel was? Yep...
So yeah, I'm just gonna kiss your arse and say I agree with what you said.

What a laughable british pussy you are. The U.S. military is designed to fight conventional wars 1st. Rapid assaults 2nd and counter insurgencies a distant 3rd.

What the HELL is this crappy about leaving with our tail between our legs? We're still in fucking Iraq and guess what happened when we pulled out of Iraq? We sent them to Afghanistan.

But let's think about how damn effette the British are that they've had to be relieved by the Americans 2x.

Once in Basra where the Iraqi commanders thought so little of the British that they may have been left out of the planning process for the operation to retake Basra by the U.S. and Iraqi militaries and then again in southern Afghanistan.

Then consider that you sissies get pushed around by Muslims in your own country in the name of diversity. Groups like Islam4UK wank all over you because they know you p.c. fools won't do anything.

The worst part about it is that you've exported your Insanity to the rest of Europe and now the people there are paying the price for following the British government's lead.

Your country was harboring all sorts of Islamists before and after 9/11, some of whom have been linked to terrorist attacks around the globe.

So stfu you deluded british idiot.

And what a laughable american idiot you are; you'd do well to cease your flaming btw.
Now I'm going to systematically destroy your flame. I mean argument.

1: The american military is NOT designed to win conventional wars very fast, it's designed to make LOTS of money for the arms manufacturers.
Don't believe me? Then for the sake of brevity, here's a single example:
american soldiers must buy their own body armour, their choice, however, is limited to interceptor, even though the guy who designed interceptor way back when now says it is no longer the best body armour.
Other 1st world militaries (that don't spend as much as the rest of the world combined) supply their soldiers body armour free.

2: Yeah your still there, but you've got your tails between your legs: crews of the Stryer, rather than patrolling with the vehicle, would take a position somewhere away from base, then move the vehicles icon around on the screen and send fake messages to fool command that they were patrolling.

3: The americans have been relieved by the Brits plenty of times, you just don't hear about it.
One British guy I know talked about how he relieved the yanks in his warrior IFV (Go on, challenge me to compare the Warrior to your piece of shit Bradley. I DARE YOU) and you didn't hear them shooting their big mouths off then. Yes. I am looking at you, big mouth
The reason the Brits combat effectiveness has suffered is that between 9,000 men the Brits have 8 (yes, eight) helicopters. This has obvious drawbacks for tactical mobility.
The americans, with their 10,000 troops have 136 helicopters.
The american soldiers are however less effective than their British counterparts because they're using M4 carbines (max effective range 100 metres, after which the bullet simply functions as a standard .22 round and is only effective with a critical hit (C.N.S., for example) and M16A2s, which, although longer ranged, has no automatic fire capability and is a LONG rifle, limiting it's use in urban combat (which we see a lot of over there).

Not only that, but the quality of AMERICAN troops is poorer. An Irish soldier (part of the British army) wrote in his book that he complained that american soldiers wouldn't go on patrol, thus leaving the taliban free to move around while the coalition forces stayed in camp and failed to take the initiative (What happened? What do you think? He got a telling off from higher up because the British military is denied it's teeth. All the problems of the american military are swept under the carpet and the British military keeps quiet on the orders of British politicians.
In case you're not aware, this lack of initiative would lead to the camps being surrounded. Remember Stalingrad? Of course you don't...
What you also don't hear about is how the ANA hates it's M16A2's, prefers AK pattern rifles, but uses M16A2s because it's ordered to.

In Apache Dawn by Damien Lewis British Apache pilots report that american pilots operate in heirarchy rather than in a team in their Apaches, leading to poorer performance and one american pilot claiming that he sunk the Taliban Navy.
Yeah, you read that right, The Taliban Navy.
No, the Taliban don't have a navy.
And no, they never did.

Incidentally, the British apache is superior to the american Apache, with more horsepower and superior software. As a result it has suffered no combat losses and hasn't had half the reliability porblems of the american Apache. In case you didn't know the american Apache was so unreliable that the worldwide fleet had to be grounded and canabalised for spares in O.D.S. because the thing is so unreliable. So why did the us army buy such an unreliable thing? Because that means that instead of just paying the arms manufacturers for the cobra (superior to the Apache) the us taxpayer could pay for the Apache too! Golden handshakes all round!

If the British were left out of combat planning it's because of american generals and their arrogance, it's no fault of the British.

As for groups such as Islam4UK, they don't push us around, we laugh at them.
Know what happens when you stick your head up above the parapit? It gets shot off.
You're an idiot if you think those guys aren't under surveilance.
Not only that, but Moslems don't push people around in Britain; as a non-white race they instead have a long history of being pushed around in Britain.
I should know; I've lived there, but don't let that stop me letting you tell everyone what you "know" from having been there.

Exported our insanity to the rest of Europe? They're paying the price for following our lead? I have no idea what you're talking about, why don't you elaborate, rather than making baseless accusations (although I've observed that it does seem to be a speciality of yours).

Britain has indeed harboured militant Islamists. Are you trying to suggest that america hasn't and or doesn't?
That nobody in america has ever had terrorist links across the globe?

Lets not forget how the american people demonstrated what glorious allies they were by donating money to the I.R.A. so that the I.R.A. could perform terrorist attacks on the English and other Irish.
That's right: americans have funded terror (and so has your government).

Here endeth the lesson.

1. WRONG. That was from a small number of cases out of literally millions of people that have filtered through Iraq and Afghanistan. In fact, as of 2005 you weren't even able to enter Iraq as a combat troop without body armor.

2. Did you stop and think that the reason why the U.S. is taking a smaller role in patrols is because the Iraqi government is slowly taking the lead? The Americans transitioned from an active role, to an assistant role to an advisor role quite a long time ago and make only light patrols except in the areas directly adjacent to major bases.

The rest under part 3 is so ridiculous I'm just going to ignore you from now on, you hurt little puppy. Welcome to ignore.:hatsoff:

Anywho, I suppose it's for the best if he doesn't wanna be educated (and he consistently failed to counter 90% of my points) but instead to live in his own lil worlf of "america, fuck yeah!"

Re: 'I didn't think of Iraqis as humans,' says soldier who raped & killed 14 yr old g

Note: Apparently a lot of Iraqis view other Iraqis as lees than human as well... they've killed may more of each other than the US/Coalition forces have, and it's been going on for a lot longer than since 2001. :2 cents:

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!!!

Haven't any of you seen Platoon?...

A quote from Schindler's List...

Oskar: "...And he's got the war. Which brings out the worst in people. Never the good, always the bad. Always the bad. But in normal circumstances, he wouldn't be like this. He'd be all right. There'd just be the good aspects of him – which – he's a wonderful cook. A man who loves good food, good wine, the ladies, making money …"

^so fucking true.

war changes people in the worse way. granted this war is far different than WWII or Nam. I just wonder if this is a case of the Army letting a whackjob fall through the cracks, or if he genuinely just went nutso out there...Until one of you personally sees three good friends gunned down right in front of you, you should maybe reserve judgement on the man. Again, not his actions (those were atrocious) but perhaps there is much more to this man's mental stability than we could possibly imagine.

It's got a lot of similarity to 'Nam...
You want to be carefull about the wuality of men you allow to serve in the army: During world war 2 the Russkis, desperate for cannon fodder for Stalin to waste in his stupidity, forced prisoners to serve in their army.
As a result the Russian army now has Dedismo: Older soldiers regard it as their right to beat and occasionally kill younger soldiers, which has obvious detrimental effects on the army.

no.

Maybe in the sense of the social and political hooplah its creating ... Storylines are somewhat parallel...but most of it is too oversimplified. The fact remains that they are two separate events, played by COMPLETELY different players.
the warfare, tactics, physical environment...all are different as well.

Iraq will have a much greater global impact on the world than Nam.

It's too bad that nobody could have figured this out prior to 2003.

I'm sure there are plenty of middle east experts at american universities etc who could've been hired for advisory roles, I just don't think Bush bothered or was interested. In fact there wasn't even a plan of what to do the second Saddam and his Baath party were forced out of government which is when the majority of the fighting actually occured, maybe the Baath party could've been maintained (under US command) whilst they slowly made the transition from a dictatorship to a democracy, it would've given time for both Sunni (to accept they were now the minority) and the Shia (to realise they could now hold a govt) to slowly accept the new Iraq. And instead of wiping out the whole Baath party why not keep on the more moderate officials that had the knowledge of what a melting pot Iraq really was, someone like Tariq Azis could've been put in temporary charge until elections took place and I'm sure most Iraqis would've respected him (the Pope does). Poor research also led the US into thinking that the Shia were all an innocent majority that were being butchered by Saddam for no reason but since Saddam fell look at the damage done by Shia cleric Al-Sadr and his Mahdi army, they've been ethnically clensing the Sunnis as well as the Christians (see link below) and no doubt have killed more US troops then Saddams Iraqi army did, and these guys will be in government soon (they've already started forcing christian women to wear veils) and have links to Iran .

You're right Face that it's a shame that this couldn't have been 'figured out' prior but the US has the smartest people in the world with many experts on this region but the Bush administration simply didn't consult them, not because of a monumentally poor decision but simply because they only cared for getting Saddam out of power rather than making Iraq a better place to live. In a choice between a brutal tyrant like Saddam who came down hard on anyone who challenged his power and a fanatically muslim regime I know who I'd prefer to run Iraq. :2 cents:

http://www.france24.com/en/20101122-iraqi-christians-seek-safe-haven-jordan

From the article
Like some Christians, Moayed said he fled Iraq after being threatened by the Mahdi Army militia of radical Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr.

Moayed managed a supermarket in Iraq but one day it blew up. He said it happened after the Mahdi Army had ordered him to pack up and leave the country because "there is no room here for Christians."

"The Mahdi Army told me I had to pay them 1,000 dollars each month or they would kill my children one by one.

Al-Qaeda claimed responsibility for the church massacre and warned that it would step up attacks on Christians.

Earlier this month a senior Iraqi clergyman said Iraq's Christians should leave the country or face being killed at the hands of Al-Qaeda.

"If they stay they will be finished, one by one," the London-based Archbishop Athanasios Dawood told the BBC.

Military and Intelligence. Two words combined that can't make sense.

There are hundreds of cases like this that get covered up. The ones we hear about are only the minority of the shameful acts commited by these so-called troops. This doesn't just apply to the US.

Re: 'I didn't think of Iraqis as humans,' says soldier who raped & killed 14 yr old g

I feel strangely sorry for Green.

From his testiment he seems as if he was once completely "sane" in actions and in mind and now fully aware of his punnishment knowing that his life is now over, yet he will have to wait out the rest of his life to die. The death penalty would be "too easy" for many people, and a "life sentence" not enough to others. The depression from wanting to die everyday, must be crushing.

War can do terrible things to some people.

I don't pity him one bit. He's trying to blame everyone else except himself yet he's a grown man who knows right from wrong and educated enough to know that Iraqis like anyone else are human and how does worrying that you might die in Iraq or seeing comrades killed lead you to rape and kill a child then massacre her whole family, he should've just shot himself. He managed to put his uniform on that day, he managed to drink alcohol that day, he managed to shoot dead a man, women and their 7 year old daughter and then knowing the 14 year old girl (ps from the picture she is way younger than 14) had just already been raped and heard HIM shoot her family dead in the next room he thought he'd rape her too prolonging her ordeal before putting a bullet in her head. He then decided to burn all the evidence and get his story straight with the other soldiers. An INSANE person wouldn't be able to do any of these things, if you've seen a person not right mentally even getting dressed can be a chore for them. He is simply a sick bastard who was high on drink and prescription drugs and he is showing no remorse because he wants to get out of jail so he doesn't believe he should be punished for what he did. People are too quick to excuse these incidents saying they are just part of war but this family done nothing to him or his friends that died. I hope his time in prison is made a living hell and that one day he does the decent things and tops himself otherwise if he gets out his next victim will be in America somewhere.

and this is why PTSD is virtually ignored by the Federal (military) budget and the VA. You can't expect to put people in situations to perform as human butchers for extended durations and think they won't be changed.

Yes, dude should be punished. Yes, he is corrupt. Simply dismissing him as a wackjob doesn't do anything to actually address WHY it happened (and will continue to happen)

I hope his time in prison is made a living hell and that one day he does the decent things and tops himself otherwise if he gets out his next victim will be in America somewhere.

there has been extensive reserach done that suggest wartime involvement will have great impacts on the life of the soldier. You are trying to rationalize the unjust.

You say he should have just shot himself? like what the fuck> really? YOU HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE WHAT WAR DOES TO THE MIND, THE SOUL, THE HEART of a soldier. It takes it away and it fucks you up.
