How often does it occur ? - √ You proofread your outgoing message • then √ SEND MESSAGE . . You walk away, answer the phone or whatever . . . and somehow, at about 9:20 into the allocated 10 min. max edit time, you're overcome with an overwhelmingly clever thought to add, as time expires ? :o

20 - 30 mins. (?) ! Please :o

All the time. >_>

I always notice a little mistake, or something that was worded wrong, or something I forgot to add. And I hate it because i'm a perfectionist!!! lol

I never had an overwhelmingly clever thought.:dunno:

But yeah, I think 10 minutes is relatively short.

:rofl2: just about everytime I post that same shit happens to me also.. matter of fact I almost started this very thread yesterday!! I wanted to edit my post and must of hit the edit @ about 9 minutes and 40 seconds, switched it to what I wanted and the time expired..

I proof read everything, but I only see my mistakes after I post it!! and I feel exactly the same way as joanne does, matter of fact, word for word, after I post I always reason with myself, nobody will see the mistakes and then I say to myself yeah right, I then cross my fingers and hope nobody notices them.. :hatsoff:

The best way is to make it short and sweat. Short and sweat and get to the point !

You do know there are two E's in sweet, right? Sweat is that stuff that drips off you while exercising or fuckin'. ;)

Ten minute limit with no updated timestamp = FAIL

1 hour time limit with mandatory timestamp to see if someone *revised* their opinion after reading the rest of the topic = WIN

At a couple of boards you can go back to anything you've ever posted and still edit it. Hell, not just edit.. but you can delete your own post, and thusly if you're the topic creator.. you can delete that topic. I'd love going back to some of my old topics and nixing them off the board. Just extra clutter on page 109 of 300 or whereever it's at.

At least helps with double posts or preventing noobs from getting banned 20 minutes after they register. "I NEED HELP WITH rap!dshare" BAN! He could've just deleted his own topic after finding out filesharing chat is an automatic ban.

But hey, it's your board.. whatever.

Maybe once a week I'll go back to edit something and wind up taking too long. I edit my posts a lot, but it is usually right after I post them, when I catch a wording or spelling error.

I think as long as you are the last post in the thread, you should still be allowed to edit the post. I don't know if that is something that is possible to implement, but that is how I would do it.

The worst is when I'm editing something and somebody already quotes me. It makes me and the other person both look like idiots I think. There is probably not any way to solve this though, aside from not allowing editing at all, which I think would be silly.

Maybe a solution is to make your text in a Word document or so, so you have plenty of time. After re-reading it, you can copy it and post it on the board.

I am definitely not smart and I make lost of mistakes! My clever Ideas alway seem to come to me 20 or thirty minutes after I post! The way I figure it, if I post something dumb no big deal, because when I post from my heart someone makes fun of it so it doesn't mater what I post!

Short and sweet. But many, many boards do not even let you edit or delete !

Or they (the moderators) add a lot restrictions if you kept editing and they will stop that !

Most of the time I think of what I'm going to type down in a response. I keep a window open with the response and when something comes to mind, I type it down.
