Seriously? Why?

Allow me to inform you of a few things you might be unaware of.
1. There is no Santa Claus
2. There is no Tooth Ferry
3. There is no Easter Bunny
4. There is no God

Some people are brought up to go to church. I think church has some great morals and values to teach, but all the other stuff bothers me. People can believe in whatever they want as long as it makes them happy.:)

I was brought up to go to church too. Then I grew up and realized that those morals and values you just mentioned don't even come from religious teachings. They come from a long evolutionary history of altruistic behavior. Humans benefit from altruism and from following certain "moral" guidelines.(As do other species like chimps and gorrillas) Therefore, "morals and values" still exist in the absence of religion. And children can still be taught right from wrong without being brainwashed into believing that there is a supernatural diety in the sky that watches their every move and knows their every thought. And if you break his rules then he condemns you to be burned, tortured and tormented in hell for all eternity. :bs:

If we did follow the "morals and values" that are written in the Bible literally then someone like yourself, who does porn, would be stoned to death. And that would suck because you are awesome IMO.

I believe in god and what he's done for me! Lets just leave it at that!

I'm honestly not trying to offend you personally. I just believe that religion is rather ridiculous. Kneel, stand, kneel, stand. If you go for that sorta thing. I don't know what to do for you.

Although I'd love to know what God has done for you personally. Maybe you'll convince me he exists. Although no one has succeeded in doing that yet.

We may bow are heads when we pray, but we don't Kneel, stand, kneel, stand.

You really won't to know what he did for me, PM me.

I used to go weekly until I moved to Europe. For the life of me, in a country full of churches, I can not find one I'd be willing to go to. It would probably have to do with half of the churches being Catholic and the other half being pretty depressing places where you can't just come as you are.

I go to Church every Sunday. Well, I was brought up to go to Church but that's not the reason I keep going. I keep going because I believe in God. I believe I need to be reminded about the wonderful things He's done for us and how I can repay the goodness He's shown and blessings He's given me-- by being good to my neighbor, even those who do not believe.

That said I don't possess any form of belief myself, yet I refuse to say I'm an atheist. That word makes no sense as the belief in nothing is a belief itself. I'm agnostic. I do however approve of any form of good will.

Oh come on. You refuse to call yourself an atheist even though you are one? Please. One who does not believe in a God is an atheist, that's what atheism means. It derives from atheos, greek, meaning "without God"

once a month and thats just bc my parents always try to get me to go. I am the kinda person that believes you dont have to go to church to believe in GOD.

I'm atheist and un-religious but I have been in a few churches though. I was in one for my cousins christening (I was about 7 at the time), my sisters wedding (I was 14, funny enough my sister and brother in law are both atheist and un-religious too but they wanted a church wedding) and and few other ocassions which I can't remember. The last time was a month ago my girlfriend is a non-practising catholic but she went to her distant cousin's wedding and I went along wth her, we only went to the wedding so we didn't go to reception cause we had better things to do like fucking in the car on the way back. :D;)

Bare in mind you can get atheist christians, athiest muslims, atheist jews and atheist in all the other religions that has a god or gods in them although in some countries if you are one of those you could get in trouble.

That's a good point!

Just curious - but are you an objectivist by any chance?

Just asking. Don't have to answer that if you don't want to :)

cheers,
