How do you organize your porn?

I try to sort it but that never works out. Usually try to sort it by pornstar, type of clip or size of clip/movie, but usually just end up with most of it thrown into one folder.

I'm having a clear out at the mo. Basically I go back through all the pics and vids, if I don't get an instant  then I bin it. Whats left is either in a blonde, brunette, lesbian, milf or by actress name folders. So far I've binned 5gb :)

One folder/one babe...plus a folder for "random" girls

Howdy organisers. Took BNFs tips and ran with them. So far, research has brought me this far:
1. exif data is stored within pictures, typically when pic was taken, aperture size, etc, but also (exif v2.21 is latest, but may have stored these before) keeps keywords. Don't know the format yet but,
2. if you batch-tag your pictures with exif keywords using software, then you could
3. auto-organise and search them via the keywords in another programme.

Adobe Bridge and Lightroom and Aperture (for mac) have been bandied around in some of the forums but who wants to blow $200 to catalogue free porn? Not me, and probably not you either. So:

Exiftool sounds like the most powerful batch exif editor but it's command line only. Might take a bit of reading but basically we're talking about a pretty simple operation ("add keyword to some files") so it might not be too bad.

AttributeMagic also does batch EXIF, but its got a GUI and can process whole directory trees down to individual branches. Yours for $25, comes with a free trial.

Some claim that InfoGlucker is great but it's only in German. The link is google translated, but not well!

To my mind, what would be great would be keyword tagging natively in downloadthemall. That way you click once to autoselect the pics on page, choose the destination, manually enter keywords or choose from existing options, and boom - done. You'd still need a databasing image viewer tho. Again, Adobe bridge'd do this, also potentially ACDSee standard, going by the checklist I just did. Looks like it uses IPTC not EXIF (don't know the difference. Might be no problem) and natively allows keyword tagging - don't know if batchable. More info as I get it.

Exiftool commandline bit i think would be required:
exiftool -Keywords+=EXIF -keywords+=editor dst.jpg
this would add keywords "EXIF" and "editor" to whichever pictures or folders were drag-dropped onto the program. Looks like you can leave it, e.g. on the desktop, then possibly drag whole folders or single files onto it and it'll batch process your rules.

Looks like it's got equally powerful file/directory renaming, just for general info...
I'll post info when i give it a whirl.

Reply from ACDSee cust.serv.:

"ACDSee Photo Manager 2009 and ACDSee Pro 2.5 are great programs to organize your digital photos.

In ACDSee Photo Manager 2009 (and ACDSee Pro 2.5), you can use ACDSee database to assign categories (similar to Tags), keywords, captions, notes, ratings, etc. You assign them to selected multiple images, using the organize pane. Using the organize pane allows you to view images which is categorized as "Dad" for instance, as well using search feature lets you retrieve images by ACDSee database information and file names.

** If you are going to use ACDSee database information to organize your images, we strongly recommend you embed database information into each image file, and also make database back up files regularly, to protect your work.

You can also use IPTC. Generally it is recommended for assigning keywords, captions, etc. as it is widely used among image organizing/editing applications. However, ACDSee Photo Manager 2009 does not have a feature to assign IPTC information to multiple images as a batch process, while ACDSee Pro 2.5 Photo Manager is capable to do that.

I recommend you download a free trail version of ACDSee Photo Manager 2009 and ACDSee Pro 2.5. You can install them on the same PC at the same time and compare the functions, if you like. It will be valid for 30 days free after you unlock the trail code (you simply need to click on a link after receiving email from us)"

...feels like throwing money at a prog which does the job ain't the worst idea ever, BUT it seems like there should be others out there. Exifer looking like it might be useful, but gonna back everything up before I try in bulk...

Hey guys. I joined to comment on this topic because I am addicted to porn and have too much of it and too much time wasted searching for that one video clip that gets me off. So this thread is extremely relevant to me. Let me offer you my solution as it stands.

I have a wide variety of pictures and videos thrown randomly about in 1 huge dir on an external drive filled to the brim and shared over the network. I didn't think it was worth it to sort by the usual methods you guys have mentioned so far (by dirs with actresses names or what have you). That's because I wanted more control than that

So I went around searching for file management softwares based on tagging. TaggedFrog and tag2find seemed to fit the bill. But I had to discard tag2find as it didn't allow tagging of network shares (or other filesystems). TaggedFrog it is then. I began watching all of my porn one by one and then adding tags to it I saw fit: Actresses name, the category (hardcore, softcore, interracial, teen, lesbian, etc), hair color, and position (from sexinfo101.com's excellent animations/pictures) and then adding a Fav tag if I especially liked that clip. So, a single video file can end up with numerous tags, all of which are searchable and browsable by.

Over time I amassed a nice database with a tag cloud that shows proportionally sized tags for tags I have tagged more than others. I can search by actresses (most important to me) and then positions, and instantly narrow down and find my fix. Say, I'm in the mood for redheads, I click on the redhead tag, and see a filtered view of tags that include redheads like Faye Valentine, I click on her, and I can see if theres any interracial with her, whether there's a Fav of mine in there. I collect more videos than pictures, for the most part. But TaggedFrog works good for pictures too, though I'm not inclined to use it much.

The only problem with this method is that a file can have two scenes with the same actress or two or more positions within the same file and theres no way to tag the file more than once with the same tag to add to the size of the tag cloud.

If anyone has a better solution to a tagged based database for videos... please let me know.

I recommend using software like Uniquefiler or DuplicateFinder. These programs will find exact duplicates or pictures that are alike. I use them so that I can replace lower quality pictures with high quality pictures whenever I find them.
