Gta: San Andreas Question, Need Help

In one mission of the game, you have to race against Catalina's Boyfriend. They give you this black sports car and you race in the dirt roads/hills against 3 other cars. But im having a tough time completing that race cuz the car has poor traction and tough to control. SO whoever ACTUALLY completed that race, can supply me with some tips or hints as to how to complete that race..
AND YES, ive been trying for a long time to do the race....

I Have done this, was not that hard. Actualy a finish 1:st the 2:nd time I played it. Only tipp I can give is that you must hawe more drive skill before you enter.

ya...hone your driving skills, im veyr good with the ps2 controller and have played the last 3 gta's on it, so i was experienced coming in... just keep practicing and you will get it

Also, if you get a good lead you can generally cruise to victory so don't get over anxious and take your time when you get out in front. Rockstar games, whether intentionally or not, seem to have the computer fall way back so unless you mess up or go reeeeaally slow my advice should work.

usually what i do on races is stay second and follow the lead car through the turns untill the home stretch. i beat catalina's new boyfriend the first try doing this.

thats a pretty good strategy..try that, you wont get messed up by any unsuspecting corners

I know I'm late on this - I just passed that mission last night. Two attempts, cut a couple corners to get in front and even fell into a ravine.

Key thing is to not use your emergency brake r1 on ps controller use small touches with your main brake the square button on the controller it will still allow you to slide around corners. When you leave the start line and head down to the water there is a small dirt strip you can go down for a shortcut the other cars follow the road. When you get to the logging camp cut through the camp cars will follow trail this should get you ahead enough that you can cruise resonably well into first place. But drive skill is still a key factor

Or right at the start of the race, have a rocket launcher prepared, get out and fire away.
