Greatest Hockey Players Of All Time?

I agree with all except the Shane Doan comment from page one. He's good but no where near when you talk about greatest of all time. I think one glaring oversight that I am noticeing is the lack of respect for Mark Messier, He won 2 cups without Gretzky, Gretzky never won any without him. Don't get me wrong Gretzky is #1 but Messier is definetly in the top 5.

There's just so many really fantastic players from those Edmonton teams of the 80's.

You young guys here need to research history, Believe it or not, there were some pretty good hockey players in the 50s, 60s, 70s....take off the blinders and look at the sport over its entire history and I think you'll change your tune.

Would you consider Hasek one of the modern greats? I'm thinking that he could be, because his style seems to have, in many ways, revolutionized modern goaltending.

Throughout his entire career I don't think he is as good as some of the other great goaltenders. If you just went off his peek years and compared him to the others' peek years he might have a case.

The Great one was,,,,,,,well, ,,,,,great for the game in every way. He was a real class act. But my 2 favs are Bobby Orr and Stevie Y.

OK....as a fan, I'm spoiled. I mean, you could field a team (including healthy scratches!) filled with the all-time greats just by looking at the history of the Canadiens.

martin brodeur for best goaltender....and he still has a few years in him...might top 600 wins and 110 shutouts if he didnt play in such a small hockey market like new jersey and instead played in a big market he wouldve gotten the respect he deserves
