Fox News again accused of airing misleading video

Faux "Going Rogue" again with phony video footage.....:1orglaugh

The only thing is this...why "apologize" <chuckle> (again) when they've already gotten permission from the courts to air phony stories?

Thu Nov 19, 3:36 pm ET
For the second time in just over a week, Fox News is coming under fire for misusing old news footage. The latest flap is leading some people to charge that the cable news network is intentionally misleading its audience, while Fox claims a "production error."

Wednesday's incident occurred when Fox News host Gregg Jarrett mentioned that a Sarah Palin appearance and book signing in Grand Rapids, Michigan had a massive turnout. As footage rolled of a smiling and waving Palin amidst a throng of fans, Jarrett noted that the former Republican vice-presidential candidate is "continuing to draw huge crowds while she's promoting her brand-new book,'' adding that the images being shown were "some of the pictures just coming in to us.... The lines earlier had formed this morning."

However, the video used in the segment was from a 2008 McCain/Palin campaign rally. In response to the minor uproar that arose after clips of Jarrett's report hit the Internet, Fox senior vice-president of news Michael Clemente issued an initial statement saying, "This was a production error in which the copy editor changed a script and didn't alert the control room to update the video."

On Thursday afternoon, Fox News issued an on-air apology delivered by host Jane Skinner:

Yesterday we told you about Sarah Palin kicking off her book tour and then we spoke to Sean Hannity about an interview that he did with former Governor Palin. When introducing the segment we showed you footage of people lining up in Michigan for a book signing that evening. In the tease before the segment, the tease to commercial, we told you how those people were already lining up to meet Palin. The problem is we didn't show you the video we were actually referencing. Instead we mistakenly aired what's called "file tape" of Sarah Palin. We didn't mean to mislead anybody in that tease. It was a mistake, and for that we apologize.

Fox and their productions errors.Bet the people responsible really get reamed for those errors, like bonus pay for right wing bias "errors".

And Hannity's name seems to come up a lot in these cases.

They can promote her and spin it all they want Palin is beyond repair. She is regarded with less respect for intelligence than almost any politician I can think of in recent memory ,former recent presidents included.:D

Damn, AGAIN? The smoke from the Jon Stewart beatdown of the Manatee still hasn't cleared!

FixedNews truly is a deplorable media outlet. They don't even try to hide their brainwashing anymore....

I don't particularly like FOX News (or any of the other MSM), but I'm pretty sure there are a plethora of infractions by the "others" when it comes to schenanigans like this.

I think they (all MSM) air misleading videos. Is this news? It's just the way it is. Pick which one that supports your view the most and have a wet dream everynight. It's rather comical. Anyway, all of us on this forum are in the new age and get our news from the Internet and choose the sources that pander to, or play to, our (or YOUR) views anyways. :)

I am really waiting for a Sarah Palin upskirt. Where she is switching legs in crossing or whatever. Just a upskirt... :D

Faux is the "MSM" now??? My how far they've "fallen". Produce proof of their long standing effort to be at odds with facts and they are all of the sudden "MSM". :1orglaugh

There is a difference between a network using someone else's photo, footage or document and failing to thoroughly validate it's authenticity and a network being the source of the phony document, picture or footage that they then make an "inadvertent mistake" in using.

"inadvertent mistake"???:wtf: Sort of suggests Faux has made or would make an intentional "mistake" if necessary. Hmmmm

How come Fox News is starting to look bad all of a sudden under a Democrat President, Congress and Senate?

All of this just started happening lately.

Just an observation.

Not sure what a "Democrat President, Congress and Senate" have to do with Faux airing their phony footage but I suppose if Obama the terrible can drain the Atlantic Ocean and use the water to put out the sun he can somehow switch Faux's video footage just before they air it to make them "look bad all of a sudden".

Just an observation. All of a sudden Fox News is coming under attack for a lot lately.

<chuckle> Yeah except these are self-induced attacks....No one's bothering them unless you consider pointing obviously fake video footage an "attack".

They are being attacked about as much as that backwards "B" faced loon who tried to claim she was mugged by an Obama supporter in Philly....:1orglaugh

Wait a min.... is this the making of a new Faux talking point?? I haven't watched them lately but are they hinting that they are under "attack" based on their own phony goofs???

I don't know. I don't watch TV News. Fox News I haven't watched for a long while. Frankly I can't stand most of their big hitters.

I don't mind Hannity once in a while. O'Reilly I think is a self arrogant jackass. Fox and Friends is... well, honestly I do not know.

The other stations I could care less about.

I took what Neal Boortz said once when I first started listening to him to heart. He said along the lines of: I lie! Do not believe anything I say until YOU look it up yourself and determine for YOURSELF what is true and is not.

He says it repeatedly every now and again and always worded differently. That is what he said.

I just noticed recently Fox News is being accused of many false tapes sent in or whatever the case is they are being considered more and more less legitimate under a full Democrat power base in Washington. That is it. My two cents. I know there will be rebuttal. I doubt I will respond. I know where I stand politically and where most members on here stand politically.

I respect that ultimately. That is what makes this country great. We all have a voice to speak freely. Whether to agree or not. Frankly I am not going to get into a political ping pong match over politics or any of that sort. I said my peace.

Now if I come in to say something sarcastic or in a joking manner, who knows :dunno:

Either way... I live by this: I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to death your right to say it.

Someone admits to lying and you still listen to them for anything more than comedic relief?:confused:

You're right! There will be a rebuttal when say things like "sent in" (no one "sent in" anything) then refer to a political power base in Washington...as if Faux's self induced "inadvertent" mistakes are being orchestrated by anyone else but the nitwits in charge of them at Faux.

This has shit to do with our g'ment....As if Faux's competitors in on cable need the g'ment to point out Faux's war on the facts...:1orglaugh

Faux is an easy target....they can't help but concoct things as they run on an agenda. There are just more eyes on their concoctions because their competition pays closer attention.

Dude, that was a choppy statement of ridiculous proportions. Speak again??? :dunno:

Call in and ask him what he meant exactly.

He says it in a sardonic manner. In other words, he says, don't believe anything he says until YOU look it upyourself. Come on now you know better than this. :hatsoff:

I know you are not dumb or simpleminded like many. Not at all.

And yes, I know I am responding to what you say, and yeah... oh well.

Do not play a recess game of he said she said...

I adore your statements/opinions Hot Mega. Most definitely. :glugglug:

I'll try it again more simpler.

You asserted that Fox New Channel (FNC) is part of the "mainstream media" (MSM). I found that extremely hilarious and quipped, apparently they're being considered part of the "MSM" all of a sudden because they've been busted creating news.

Sean Hannity of FNC suggested in his "apology" that FNC had made and "inadvertent mistake" in airing phony video footage.

Aren't all mistakes "inadvertent"??? To say "inadvertent mistake" almost suggests there are times when they make an intentional "mistake".

As far as the other mistakes reporting documents, photos and vid footage by other networks. From what I've seen the other networks have used material from others they simply failed to authenticate properly.

FNC is the only outfit who's been found (repeatedly now) to be the source of the phony video footage, photos, etc. that they've use at their network. In other words, stuff they created.

That should be clear as crystal now.:hatsoff:

Challenging a listener to verify your claims before you believe them is one thing.

Stating you "lie" in an effort to cause them to fact check you is not commendable and quite another IMO.:2 cents:

It's interesting to note that both errors showed more people in attendance than was true. If these were truly random errors sometimes there would be shots of less people at these events. But NOOOO, the errors always put the events in a better light for the wingnuts. In Wingnuttia land the truth needs to be enhanced to reflect what they wish for, not what is real.

Do you look into everything you hear by fact checking? Do you look up everything you hear by whatever SOURCE you listen/watch?

Do you make sure what they say is accurate to the best of your knowledge?

What do you listen to?

Do you double check it all? Or do you listen wholeheartedly? Take without second glance?

How do you make sure what you know is what it is you truly do know?

Seriously. I mean it, ask Neal Boortz what it is by what he means when he says "he lies"

I explained it. Basically he is saying take some self responsibility and look it up yourself! That is that! Do not believe everything you hear or see!

What is wrong with that?
