Found Ipad2 64gb 3G on bus.

Over the weekend I found an Ipad2 64gb 3G on the bus.
I was highly considering keeping it but my fucking karma ridden conscience kicked in and I decided to at least return it to owner.
Looking through some pics, sure why not, I found a photo of a billing statement. So tried that phone # as I thought it was the owner. Called while I was at work and the very happy man picked up his Ipad within 10 min, he just happen to live near by.
In the end I was rewarded with ($)100 Karma points from him !!

Wanted to add a poll but I was to slow...

Would you have returned it if possible, kept it, or sold fast for some quick cash ??

Good for you man, good for you. Feel's good, doesn't it?

I'm a lowdown bastard but every now and then I do honest and altruistic things like that just for the hell of it.

I once found a blackberry @ the restaurant. I look in the directory and called "Mom", said his son lost his phone and can mail me to get it back. 2 hours later the guy was at my home and got back his blackberry. My honesty was rewarded with 80€

Good for you.

I probably would have kept it. But that's just me. I once kept a baby that I found on a bus. The bitch of a mother claims I "stole" it out of the carriage and then just ran off with it, but what the fuck does that abandoning cunt know, right?

Anyway, the 12 years in jail were worth it.

I wouldn't have thought twice about trying to find the owner. If I lost something like that, I'd like to believe someone else would go through the effort for me. Unfortunately, I don't have much faith in human kind these days so I wouldn't hold my breath, but it doesn't mean I have to devolve into a dishonest, thieving scum.

I would have done what you did. I learned a long time ago that ill-gotten gains always ends badly. You end up paying for it many times over in the long run.

That karma thing is a bitch. We all like finding good stuff to keep. But once it can be traced back to the owner that fucking karma thing kicks in. Money found on the floor is great. Watching it fall sucks but I always remember that it will be paid back at some time.

back in '07, this gorgeous girl was boasting about her new ipod touch, she was a biotch as well. a week later when opening the clinic, i found it on one of the dialysis machines. For leverage I decided to ask her out and then present her the device. I even told myself, if she says no, I would still give her the device and maybe she would think twice. Well I asked and not only did she say no, she said she would never be seen with someone that drives anything american and thats under the year of 2005. So I gave the device to my nephew.

about a year later, i was coming to work and i parked next to this new beamer i had never seen before. i noticed on top of the car was a woman's wallet, a Louis vuitton. i took it inside with me and im going to the break room and i can hear the same cunt boasting about how her dad bought her the beamer. i immediately put the wallet in my pocket and never told her about it. there was $450 in the wallet, which i kept and gave the wallet to one of my ho's.

since then, i have left two phones in places which im sure people kept, but didnt matter cause i had insurance on them and i got another phone. I tell my nieces and nephews to keep what they find cause in the end, people dont deserve what they lost.

You absolutely did the right thing. Even if he hadn't given you a reward, it was just the right thing to do.

You returned the iPad for the right reasons. But on the flip side, these days, many mobile devices and laptops have apps that can track the devices if lost or stolen. So trying to be slick and keeping a lost item can get you arrested. Recently there was a story about a guy who had his MacBook Air or Pro taken (I don't remember if it was lost or stolen). The owner remotely activated the webcam and recorded the guy who took it in his apartment. Then he just called the cops. They went to the guy's apartment, arrested him and retrieved the computer.

I know many/most Apple devices can do this. I assume other brands have similar capabilities. And even if you found a device, if found in your possession, you'd still get arrested, have to make bail and might end up with criminal conviction on your record. But you returned it for the right reasons, so it doesn't matter. Good man!

Scum

Problem with the iPad though is had you kept it, the user could just have easily remote wiped and locked it so shortly after finding it all you'd have is a shiny paperweight.
