Forced Listening

L3ggy

Special Operations FOX-HOUND
0/10 Can't really hear anything.

7/10. Never really been able to figure out if I like Megadeth or not. I love thrash, but these guys have never really rubbed me one way or the other. Not a bad tune though.

Mountain Witch - "Wrath"

10/10. I love Mountain Witch. Remind me of Sabbath but without crap vocals.

There seems to be a lot of metal being posted here. I'm going to switch it up a bit. Cool thread btw, TSW!!

From Scotland, We Were Promised Jetpacks.

Holy shit, I didn't know anybody else had ever heard of MW. They make me feel like I still smoke pot.

7.5/10. It sounds like Joy Division and Against Me! joined bands. Not bad at all.

6/10. Reminded me of White Zombie at first. But I like the rawness and simplicity. The vocals are big. I dig that, just not a fan of this song. I checked out their other stuff. Psych No.1 was pretty cool. Big time 'doom' feel with these guys.

The Juliet Massacre - Pray For an Afterlife

1:30 Ohhhhh baby I love that shit.

3/10... Sorry, I really didn't care for any of that. Put your fucking hats on straight, kiddos.

Clutch - "10001110101"

Clutch is classic. 10/10 They were just here a month ago and I didn't get to go. Rage. They rock it.

Dead Man's Bones - My Body's a Zombie For You.

Alright... heres how it works, jagaloons. I'm going to post a video of a song. Next person listens/watches and rates it (1-10), then posts their own video. You can comment on it if you like, or just give it a number. Try not to let your prejudices and preconceptions get in the way before you watch the video (ex. that's lady gaga, it's definitely going to suck.(I know, she sucks)).
Rules:
-You HAVE to watch, rate and post a new video. No coming in here and just blabbering about this and that.

-Try not to shit all over anyone's personal tastes, such as "that was (genre). I fucking hate (genre). (genre) listeners are fags.

-Don't be a dickhead just because the person above you is a dickhead. For instance, Revamp posts a song... We all hate Revamp, but don't be like "1/10, fuck you revamp you fucking suck" just because he posted it.

-No Country music, because it's for fags. ;)

-Don't post fucking 20 minute songs, lest you want to look like an asshole

Alright, I'm going to start it off with...

Queens of the Stone Age's "You Can't Quit Me Baby"

your taste in music sucks.

your taste in music sucks.
Well done, you.

As for STDiva, and Dead Man's Bones...
8/10... I liked it quite a bit, and I'm not really sure why. It's not something I've ever really found myself listening to, and I'm not really sure what genre you'd even put it in. Still, it was pretty cool.

This song probably won't be for everybody. It's very mellow, and probably best accompanied by a nice bong rip, if you're the type to be doing so. However, if you enjoy it for what it is, then it's a pretty rewarding band to listen to. Also, don't take the band/music as Pro or Anti-religion. It's simply exploring it's mythology.

Om - "Meditation Is The Practice Of Death"

OK...
3/10 for Om - "Meditation Is The Practice Of Death"
not because it stunk- just not my cup of tea, i need some speed in my music- the song seemed very repetitive also like it was just the same thing over and over. but people may feel the same way about stuff i listen to so im not going to kill it.it was definitely different and sure as shit VERY mellow like you said.

my choice is FOZZY -Under Blackened Skies (for those who don't know WWE wrestler Chris Jericho is the lead singer of the band with former members of Stuck Mojo sprinkled in and they have released 4 cd's already!)

6/10. I'll admit I had somewhat low expectations with it being a pro wrestler's band. But, its definitely a valid blend of power metal and certain elements of thrash and grind. Not something I'd listen to a lot, but not bad, either. The guitar work reminded me a lot of Matt Bachand and Jon Donais from Shadows Fall.

This is a new band (to me) I've been listening to recently called Torche. I guess you could call it "Stoner Metal Lite". Awesome instrumentation with pretty clean vox. Let me know what you think, and keep this fucking thread alive. I don't mean to toot my own horn too much here, but this place has pretty much sucked lately, and I feel like this is a good thread.

Torche - "Snakes Are Charmed"

Agreed it is a great thread, i'd give that vid a 6.5/10 it had some good instrumentation, and was very old school.

This song is by cloud cult, I got into them a couple years ago through a friend and hated them at first, but the more I listened the better and better it became.

THIS THREAD HAS BEEN NEGLECTED LATELY

i had to go back to page one to see what the rules were for smashing or trashing another's post. i don't want to smash other people's tastes in music that is different than what i like,so i won't give a terrible score to other people's stuff.
the Cloud Cult i will give a 5/10 definitely not my cup of team but not something so horrible it is unlistenable.

my choice is Gojira : Ocean Planet. quick back story,my friend has tried for years to get me to buy or listen to this bands music,i would always say "yea yea yea" but never do it. its been almost 3 years of him trying! i finally broke down, asked him what to purchase and i will listen at my leisure but i won't take another 3 years to listen.
well the first song i listened to was Ocean Planet off of the From Mars to Sirius cd. OH MY FUCKING GOD !!!!why did i wait this long to get into these guys? the opening drum beats gave me a boner and i still love rocking this song LOUD AS FUCK IN MY CAR! this link has the lyrics in the youtube page for anyone who can't understand the words! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvVAc4EWbFg

8/10. I've been listening to Gojira here and there for a few years now, but never got completely into them. They play good shit, it's just not the kind of stuff I listen too all the time, so I look them up every so often when I'm in the mood.

I found this band somewhat recently whilst checking some record label sites for free MP3s. These guys are signed to Southern Lord, and awesome metal label. I guess you'd call them a Scandinavian Blackened-Death Metal band (I think they're Swedish). The vocals aren't for everyone, but I really like how ballsy the guitars are without just turning into noise, which seems to plague this type of genre (for me, at least). That said, I rather like the vox, they suit the instrumentation perfectly, IMO.

Craft - "Succumb To Sin"

So this thread's been dead for almost a year, but I feel like the participants all had a good time in it, it just suffers from being in a forum that few people visit (we need a music forum, dammit). Anyways, I thought I'd try to revive it and see if anyone else still cares.

This is a band I've recently discovered called Kvelertak from Norway. Not a typical Norwegian metal band though. They blend elements of death metal, folk and punk rock, resulting in high energy metal that isn't so aggressive and pummeling that it scares away casual listeners, but heavy enough to satisfy lifelong metalheads like myself. Check out "Blodtørst" (Bloodthirst) from their debut album and let me know what you think:
