I used to hang out at a lot of car shows back when I was living in California and got to know some of the guys that exhibited at them pretty well. A couple of them asked me if I wanted to pose with the cars and stuff and I agreed. This is where my first webmaster saw me and asked me if I wanted to come and shoot for him for a website he was putting together. At the shoot he was so impressed that he offered me my own site there and then and the rest is history!

I had a similar experience with Japanese. When I was in middle school I had a few friends who spoke it, so, with a do-it-yourself Japanese course and their help, I learned to speak some of it. Up until I was about 19 I could carry on a conversation in Japanese, but then I stopped speaking it. Now I can only remember a few words here and there. Hell, I can hardly even read any of it anymore.
