For Halloween - Urban Legends and Ghost Stories From Your Home Town

Note: This thread isn't about wether or not you believe in ghosts, haunted houses, creatures (i.e... jersy devils, bigfoot) or anything else deemed "unexplainable" so please keep that in mind and don't flame accordingly :) However, feel free to express your opinions.

I think one of the side effects of living in a small town is, we often come up with strange ways of keeping ourselves entertained. The urban legend is a big part of that, as I'm sure you know if you grew up in a little speck like my Mathews County Va.

This was the most complete compilation of all the legends of OHW that I could find when running a google search. However, like all good urban legends, the telling varies from person to person. And if you were ever a young'un living here, odds are you have a personal ghost story or two about the Old House Woods you'd be more than happy to share. ;) (So me and my buddies got real ***** and decided it'd be alot of fun to...)

Still, the earliest sightings of ghosts in Old House woods were recorded more than 200 years ago, and have been reported steadily since. Some of them, like the legend of the storm lady, are pretty chilling.

So do you live near some "famously haunted" site, house, graveyard, woods or some other spooky place? Do old folks in your town talk about Jersy Devils or Witches or phantoms? Any good urban legends to tell?

I eat this stuff up. Halloween is my favorite time of year. Please, share anything.
