like I said before, the reason HFCS is so bad is simply because it has so much fructose in it, not because it's metabolized differently from other things which have fructose in them

I don't disagree with you about it being (probably) solely responsible for the obesity epidemic btw

not solely.
but what factors do we have?
not many.
its fact that since the early 90's people, especially children have been getting fat.
its to a point where there are more overweight people than normal weight.

these are the factors i can think of:
less exercise than past generations: home video games, computers, people in the house more often.
and food.
less parents being able to cook a fresh meal and instead relying on frozen meals ( which contain hfcs) , fast food, processed food ( hfcs) and chemicals.
i also think soda consumption fake juice consumption is up too, loaded with hfcs.
also people that work so much due to the high tax burden and inflation eat more fast food as do welfare people who do nothing all day.

but people always ate junk food.
when i was a kid we all ate cakes and chips and stuff., and very few were fat.
today these products exist but are loaded with hfcs instead of sucrose.
and most are fat.

there are many factors, i just think hfcs is the biggest one.

i will watch the video.

At least he wasn't one of those people that was wheezing walking down the street by the time he was 60 because he was out of shape his whole life. I somehow think Jack going to come out having the last laugh on a lot of people considering how long he lived healthy.
The last laugh?!? I doubt it, he is dead. A corpse can't laugh, can't be bargained with, it can't be reasoned with, it doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead!

^^The risk of making you fatter (and all the associated ills from it) is lessened because the fiber causes sugars to be absorbed slower. Thereby preventing spikes in blood sugar then a following spike of insulin.:2 cents:

What you state is not untrue from a weight/body fat control standpoint but that isn't the main reason fiber in fruit prevents fat accumulation.

Again, I'm well aware. I just didn't go to that level of detail, as it's fairly unnecessary.

Even if you don't believe in the afterlife assume then that I meant in in a metaphorical sense from the situation that he lived through and people now looking back on his life. The last laugh then is in the minds of the people now, especially the people supporting him because time proved him mostly right.

That wasn't a difference in depth of detail. You said one thing with respect to fiber in fruit..gives you a 'full feeling'. I said another...prevents insulin spikes.

Both of those are true but only one is relevant to excess sugar's effects on the accumulation of body fat.

Your statement relates to appetite.

And guess what the physiological effect of having insulin regulated, thus blood sugar levels regulated is?

Could it be....feeling full longer? :surprise:

not solely.
but what factors do we have?

Most likely vegetable oil. It's only been in our food supply for about 50 years ( it was used to make paint and varnish before petroleum was used)

It's rates of consumption have risen in line with the obesity epidemic. There's most likely never been another time in human history when so much omega 6 has been consumed.

And guess what? You're still talking appetite...:surprise::facepalm:

Taking it a step further in how the distinction matters...'feeling full longer' has it's advantages and disadvantages. It may allow you the comfort of not eating as much but your body still needs a certain amount of protein in order to discourage fat storage if it runs out of protein.

That's why the relationship and effect of insulin spikes on fat storage is more relevant (and practical).

Either way, Jack LaLanne died...R.I.P. Jack.

Let's split hairs a few more times. After all, it's not like we're referring to the same thing. Or that the two phenomena are connected.

For the EMPEROR!!
Wow, I remember him from when I was a kid. :( . RIP Jack.

As with the congresswoman being shot there is still debate and ridicule to be found even with Jack LaLanne's death!

Wow.

I give up on North American society. I love you all. I truly do.

Even in a topic about a fitness guru who lived to be 95 by living a rather well healthy and active lifestyle there is still debate/argument/ridicule to be found!
