Firefox faster?

Is Firefox faster than IE 7, or are they just saying that? I'm using IE now.

Well, I'm not too sure but I don't use firefox...last time my friend told one of my other friends that firefox prevented more viruses and was a lot faster and downloaded it for him but it screwed up his comp big time...

Everyone says it is faster, but every time I have used it I thought it was slower. It is certainly more secure and stable than Internet Explorer, but I still don't care for it.

I use a Mac so I just operate on Safari and don't have any issues with it at all.

Hmmm, all differing views. Well....howie, I suggest you try it out first and see what's more better for you.

Firefox is indeed faster. It does much better on several javascript benchmarking tools such as SunSpider. It also, is more standards compliant passing the Acid2 test. (IE does not). IE commonly does not display things correctly and developers have to work around this.

So, I believe firefox is faster, and better overall. Also, more secure.

I find Firefox to be much safer. I've been using Firefox for years and haven't had a problem with malware in ages, even when browsing questionable websites (ie porn). But the one day I used IE, I got a worm that took me 48 hours to remove, and the complete emptying of System Restore. :/

I'm looking forward to a complete Google Chrome... but GDrive even more than that. (Heard some new rumours about that project finally taking off in 2009, and had to mention it!)

I had my P.C. fixed over four days, thanx to I.E. And yes, Firefox is way faster. Plus you have your search engine front page as well as on top.

I've been using Firefox for months and I'll never go back to IE again.

I don't think your browser choice is a major determinant regarding speed.

That's what I've always understood. It's your internal processor and internet connection that determines the speed of how fast you can wander around the internet.

I don't get what's so bad about IE anyway. What's with all the people using different browsers?

My brother is a system administrator at an IT company and he says IE is one of the biggest security holes on Windows so I use Firefox :)

Personal preference :dunno:

I've been using firefox for about 5 years now, for most people the speed difference will not even be noticeable, let alone an issue. I use FF because I prefer it's functionality.
