Firefox faster?

I don't think it matters too much as far as speed goes. However I do notice that the order in which things download on an internet page is sometimes different depending on which browser is doing it so that might make a difference.

Regardless of speed, FireFox > IE.

Also, Safari > IE.

In fact, pretty much anything > IE.

I'm considering switching to FF real soon.

My problem is this; On IE, some websites load slower than others. Even when my cache is clean. I'll click on some websites and it will take forever for the website or page to load. Other website load normally. I'm getting really fucking tired of this shit.

I run FF3 and at times it is fast...other times it's stuck in the mud. If you have a lot of DRAM memory then I guess it doesn't matter. But it pisses me off sometimes. Like today. The weather/etc. info in my toolbar kept screwing up.

I was told to use a site called speedtest.com to find your download and upload speeds. I'm such a blonde that when I hooked up DSL I put filter on computer line too. I was mad for weeks cause the speed was like dial up LOL. Tech told me about the test site. Maybe you can 'test' each browser.

Anything is better than IE, Ie pretty much trust all the websites you visit and lets them install anything they want with active X plug ins. I use FF, but it can get heavy on the ram if you have a lot of tabs or windows open. Google chrome is worth considering too, I think its slightly lighter on the ram than FF, You Might want to look at opera as well. But imo the user interface is the most important thing, which is quite subjective, but if you like IE's interface you will probably like FF just as much if not more.

Been using Firefox for a few years now. Don't really know or care if its faster...I just like it. My brother-in-law manages an IT department and got me to start using it.

FFox is having a bad day today. It's crashing more than a teenage driver.:crash:

Is Firefox faster than IE 7, or are they just saying that? I'm using IE now.

It's faster in terms of benchmarking, no question about it. How that translates to you personally depends on OS, hardware etc...
