Question for the OCSMs: Have you ever used a file sharing website or even youtube to watch a film or listen to music without paying the producer?

Not saying I disagree with you, but that's a bad comparison. If they broke into your house, without damaging the door or window, copied whatever it was they wanted and left everything as it was before they got there, that would be the same. Don't act like you had something and now it's gone.
People need to embrace the internet as the useful tool it can be, instead of vilifying it and shutting everything down because some asshole CEO isn't making as many millions as he thinks he should be. I feel in the long run this will hurt artists more than help them.
1 downloaded movie does not equal 1 ticket purchased. People seem to be forgetting this.
Very few but from her point of view, one single picture illegaly hosted on Megaupload is enough to shut down the whole site...

1. Do you think that the SOPA and PIPA laws are a good or a bad thing?
2. Has this megaupload bust affected your opinion of SOPA and PIPA and if it has, how?
Of that, I have absolutely no idea. Not reasonable for me to start guessing.

I don't know where you get that quotation from but the presumption of Innocence is one of the base of French Justice since 1789, it is written in the 1789 Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen wich still is the introduction of the French Consitution.

Have I ever used a file sharing site - NO.
Have I ever used You Tube - Yes, to watch a movie - No not that I can recall to watch a music video sometimes.
In case you ask I buy my CD's either in a store or download them from I-Tunes, and no I have never stolen music, etc.
three years ago, my entire membership area was pirated. It does not matter how many videos or photos I loose to piracy in a year, it costs me money, both in potential lost revenue, and also in legal fees to pay my attorney's to go after sites to request removal, etc.

Well we will have to agree to dis-agree about this, because it is the same in my book. You still have breaking and entering. Even if they unlock your door and go in without permission, or even open and unlocked door and enter the house without permission it it breaking and entering (breaking the seal of ones dwelling and entering that place without permission). So yes still illegal. now if they copy something that was not theirs it is still illegal, ethically and morally. So if someone hacks your wife's or daughters phone (or enters your house as you state), and copies naked photos or videos of them and then distributes them on the internet, that is okay?
I do embrace the internet as a tool, and use it as such everyday, but if you are a small business or individual and you invest say $5k into making a DVD (which you have to pay the talents whom appear, the legal fees to lawyers, fees to graphic designers, video editors, and then production, etc, etc) and someone buys it and copies it, and distributes it across the internet, that is okay? I don't care if you are a newbie, a nobody, or a big company - no one has the right to steal your work. Its wrong.

What world are you in, did you read the news articles? Just because I may only have a item or two on there it doesnt matter. Tens of thousands of illegal videos, music, etc were on their server. Yes, they did have some legal material as well. Just like I don't care when people distribute photos or videos I give out for free on tubes, etc, that is fine and legal in my eyes. Sites like those hurt many in the whole. I am not selfish enough only to care when something involves me directly, I care when anyone in the biz is ripped off from companies to OCSM's like Vicky Vette, Claudia-Marie, Mandy Blake, any of them.
The site was shut down not because of me (gawd the only one who cares when my stuff is stolen is me and my attorney), they were shut down because of the pirated material from larger companies with deeper pockets & pull to handle scum like that.

YES, it is different :
If I steal a DVD in a store, I would have it without paying and the guy that's gonna come to buy it won't have it, even if he intend to pay fort it. He may havec another copy of the movie. But this particular one is no longer available. It is a real thing wich avalibility is limited.
If I illegaly download a movie there will still be the same number of copies in stores than before i DLed it. So I may enjoy the movie without paying foir it but anyone who wanna pay for it can still do.

I'd never heard of her before she popped up on this site and I've never gone out looking for her stuff because, with all due respect, I don't care for that genre. She wouldn't be doing it if she didn't have an audience but I can't imagine she has as large a following as some of the contract girls from Brazzers or the other porn workshops.

I'm against the surrender of liberty, hoping it won't be abused, to catch some thieves that wouldn't have bought the product in the first place. Law enforcement already have enough tools at their disposal. Instead of more laws they should work within the confines of existing law to go after piracy.
I never understood why Napster created such a shit storm. If I taped songs off the radio and uploaded those files to my computer would that be copyright infringement? Now, thanks to the internet, I can hear music I would never have been able to hear before, either because I didn't have the money to buy the records, or because I was never exposed to those bands and wouldn't have been aware of them, or, even if I was aware of them there would be no outlet to purchase the music from. And that's just music.
Pornography is illegal in some countries. Should those countries demand that the United States execute warrants and extradite porn stars to face prosecution where it's illegal?
