Favourite video game ending? [Spoilers inside]

What is your favourite video game ending??? I'm talking about the part after defeating the final boss, level, puzzle, whatever.

If you do not want to know the endings of any games you may not have played, do not read on. You have been warned.

I just beat Uncharted 2 again and I forgot how good that ending was. After those indigenous people ravage Lazeravic, the intense bridge collapsing, saving Chloe and Nate admitting he is afraid of clowns, this ending makes your heart race and then cools you off with some funny Nate talk.

Red Dead Redemption had a great ending too, if you don't consider killing Ross a final level or boss, since it was easy as fuck. Ending a game with sweet, sweet revenge is always a good way to go. But then they stab you in the heart when you find out Ross has been given medals for killing all the members of Dutch's gang. The ones you (John Marston) spent the entire game trying to kill and your new character, Jack Marsten becomes an outlaw. Something his father didn't want him to be. Rage.

So what about ya'll?

Okay. Well. Assassins Creed Brotherhood.

*SPOILER*

At then end of the game (if you havent played the 2nd one you should) you finally find the apple of eden and when you pick it up Mierva the goddess who talked to you at the end of Assassins creed 2 she takes control of you and then you take out your hidden blade and stab lucy. Then the game ends. Crazy ending. Im on my toes waiting for 3rd one

I have many favourite endings, the both endings of MGS1, the ending of MGS2, the ending of MGS3, the ending of MGS4, the ending of Peace Walker, and a few others that I can't quite remember.

The ending of Super Mario Bros. is great, when the princess thanks Mario for saving her and then proceeds to go down on him.

I always loved the Zelda endings, especially the cutscenes once they got later into the series with Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess.

(Official boardwhore now, awesome)

I liked the God of War 1 ending. You finally taking the throne as God of War is pretty sweet. God of War II set-up God of War III perfectly, with all of the Titans going towards Zeus.

The Uncharted endings are sweet as well. I also liked the second one more. You see that Nathan really does care for the interview chick, I just can't think of her name right now.

The Gears of War 1 and 2 endings were pretty sweet as well.

Dead Space had an all right ending.

Elena!! And the Gears endings were sic. Can't wait for the 3rd one.

As open-ended as the ending was to it, I loved Final Fantasy VII's ending. After playing it for 60 hours (my first real RPG that I got into) it was so satisfying to see it end but sad at the same time. It was definitely the most satisfying for me

I've got to say the ending to Metal Gear Solid 3, but since L3ggy already said it, I'll add Persona 4.

*spoilers*

Make that the entire ending sequence. I absolutely love how the game attempts to lead you towards the bad ending in the scene at the hospital, but if you choose the correct options there is literally hours of gameplay left. The final sequence of that part is great too because AGAIN the game tries to lead you to another ending. But if you're smart and were paying attention at the beginning of the game and whenever it was raining, you find the true last boss of the game. Not to mention you always get together with your girl at Christmas. It's pretty dang awesome.

to me a good ending comes from a good story overall...

these are just a few of my favs...

I felt emotionally connected to the character of Niko Bellic and the multiple endings of GTA IV...

Metal Gear Solid (1998) ending kicked ass...

Halo: Reach did an awesome job with a game we already knew the ending to...

Red Dead Redemption, definitely. Fantastic ending to an extremely well-told story.

Also Bioshock. If you saved all the little sisters and you get that cinematic where you see them grow up and get married and they're all there with you when you die. Awesome ending.

I haven't seen it but I heard, if you harvested the little sisters instead of saving them, the ending is pretty wicked. Might have to play through again so I can see that.

I can't come to harvest them. Though I think I might try to do so next playthrough. But they are just too damn adorable to harm. :(

I like the ending from Parasite Eve II, Metal Gear Solid 3, Mass Effect, KOTOR I, Jade Empire, Silent Hill 2, and Batman: Arkham Asylum.

So many great games have great endings.

FFVIII,FFX,Metal Gear Solid 2,3,and 4.

I nearly cried during FF VII's ending during my initial playing of it a year after it's release on an original PS1 I bought at a department store. SUCH a great game and I was actually coming here to say that.

Oh and Super Castlevania IV's as well. I know it is very breif but I LOVE the score which nearly brings tears to my eyes, plus all of the screen shots of all the places in the castle in which you breifly re-visit. Loved how James Rolfes (aka: The Angry Video Game Nerd) talked about it during his review.

Final Fantasy VI. Kefka was a real bad ass. Especially compared to newer FF games' main villains. He never once stopped or held back. He always took what he wanted for himself.

Chrono Trigger had some good endings, too. I especially liked the one with Crono taking over where Magus/Janus was in the Middle Ages.

Gothic 1 had an amazing ending, as did 2. I've yet to finish 3, because I have too much fun just freeplaying. I like hunting deer and searching the desert. Nordmar is a fun place to explore, too. Lots of caves and passes. I haven't got my hands on Arcania yet, but I know I'm going to have a blast with it.

Might and Magic games always have good endings. I've gone through VI, VII and VIII.

The Soul Blazer saga (Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and the Japan only release Terranigma) all had thought provoking endings that gave you a human ending to a larger than yourself adventure.

Secret of Mana had a good ending, too. Yet another very human ending that concluded the characters quite well.

I haven't had the patience for many games past the SNES era. Most of the endings are tripe at best. I have to say my favourite ending to any game is River City Ransom. Not because its a good ending, but because then I could hit reset and start all over again.

Edit: I forgot about Heroes of Might and Magic II and III.

nothing too great here but i remember the first time you were able to create yourself in a hockey game (NHL from EA).you play through the whole season, make the playoffs, get to the finals,WIN the STANLEY CUP and when it goes to the cut scene you lift the CUP over your head and see YOUR name on the back of the jersey. i though it was great especially being a HUGE hockey fan and having touched the STANLEY CUP on more than one occasion!
