Well, aside from the traditional main course itself, it would have to be the Celery Root and Shrimp Salad dressed with a lite spread of hummus sauce and topped with paprika along with
a glass of dry white wine. . ^ . .:glugglug: . . a ZD, Far Niente, Pine Ridge, Dry Creek Vineyards or a Sonoma•Cutrer Chardonnay would work.

Where's the spirit you jerks?

In years past when similar threads were posted there were all kinds of posts... have we lost our sense of tradition in this country?

C'mon all of you Canucks, Mounted Police type of people, and beer guzzlin types up there in Canada... help out!

Southern cornbread dressing... with turkey and cranberry sauce of course. :)

Same. And of course it's that generic boxed crap that I fiend for. :anonymous

Honestly, the hors deouvres: the dips, the chips, the stuff like that. Also I like these pumpkin bars that the aunt and uncle used to always make. They were the bomb, and my recipe isn't bad either.

Where's the spirit you jerks?

Our friends to the north are too politically correct to celebrate the occasion, F. Remember, this should not be a time for celebration but a time for mourning and to reflect on all the evil the Pilgrims did. :anonymous

Favorite? Thats like asking my favorite kid.... oh wait don't have kids. Well still its not something I can answer.
Some of my faves
Turkey nicely browned and still moist.
Sweet and sour carrots
Candied yams
Stuffing
Mashed taters and gravy.
Corn Casserole
And rolls
Just heaped onto a plate. Its a wonder i am not 350 pounds

Mine would be roasted duck with italian sausage stuffing. Add some sauteed squash and broccoli medley with bacon and chive potato salad and of course, cranberry sauce.

The last couple of years I've been making a Reuben casserole. Last year I made a tres leches cake. My sister makes a poppy seed chicken dish that's pretty awesome. That, along with lots of the traditionals. Thanksgiving is just (you knew this was coming) good eats. har har har

Holy Shit! I got Elton Brown to post on my thread! Sweet!
After a great Thanksgiving lunch today I realized no one broke out the Beets? I mean there was everything, salad, rolls, corn, tatoes, gravy, turkey, ham, olives and like twenty deserts! It just wasn't Turkey day without the Beets!

For the taste I would say the stuffing, cranberry sauce, and gravy.

For all around factors I like sweet potatoes and the turkey or whatever meat is usually being served.
