Favorite Thanksgiving Dish???

Haven't had a serving yet but I'm still holding out hope for a slice of Jayden Jaymes pie.:o

Same. And of course it's that generic boxed crap that I fiend for. :anonymous

Honestly, the hors deouvres: the dips, the chips, the stuff like that. Also I like these pumpkin bars that the aunt and uncle used to always make. They were the bomb, and my recipe isn't bad either.

Our friends to the north are too politically correct to celebrate the occasion, F. Remember, this should not be a time for celebration but a time for mourning and to reflect on all the evil the Pilgrims did. :anonymous

Forgot the cream cheese and cranberry dip recipe we make.

I'm cooking a duck - slow cook the barbecue, filled with oranges and cloves, basted with an orange/soy marinade. It will be very crispy!
I'm also making a goose - filled with citrus, pan seared, then slow cooked. I've made it many times before. I'll never cook a turkey again, probably. This is so much better.

I'll also be making several types of stuffing, my favourite likely being the type I make with spicy sausage, rye bread, apples and bacon. :yummie:

A good friend of mine is coming, and she's from the deep south. She's making mounds of traditional, Southern corn bread. :yummie:

Food is good. I love it.

We don't really call them yams in my country... in fact, we don't have Thanksgiving either. But given my fondness for the sweet potato and all the members of the squash family, I have always imagined both candied yams and pumpkin pie to be foods of the gods.

I am shocked you have a turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce orientated meal a mere month before Christmas. Decadent bastards.

Damn you! I want the recipe!! We're gonna roast duck for Christmas. :D
Also, why'd you tell everyone I was coming over? Jeez louise, you can't keep a secret. ;)

Seriously though, I made an awesome brine for our turkey this year in which it sat for 48 hours, then hubby put the bird in the smoker. Turned out a-freaking-mazing. Love it!
My favorite Thanksgiving dish is pumpkin pie. :yummie:

The alcohol

Next question.

Dang, I had dinner for 38 here, and everyone brought at least one dish, and every one of the dishes was my favourite.
Sweet Potatoes and goat cheese
Sweet Peppers stuffed with three kinds of cheese
Home made rolls - corn and regular
Stuffing - four kinds

I may not need to eat this week...

We consider it a practice drill for Christmas. You can't go from diet soda and salads to egg nog, etc without it being a shock to the system. :D
