Favorite Sports Moment

I did a search and couldn't find anything on this, so please don't flame me if it has been done, but what is your favorite sports moment you have witnessed. It doesn't necessarily have to be the greatest, just your favorite.

Mine would have to be Game 5 of the 2005 NLCS, Houston Astros vs. St. Louis Cardinals. Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals hits a MONSTER home run off of Brad Lidge in the top of the ninth with two outs to prevent the Astros from winning the game and the championship series. The Astros would end up winning the series the next game, but that home run will be one I always remember.

what the fuck you lookin at?
The 98 Daytona 500 when my guy Dale Earnhardt finally won!

A few that come to mind (right now):

Gretzky's hat trick at the "Church" in Toronto, 93'.
Jack Nicklaus 86' Masters.
Twins game 7, 1-0 win 91 World Series.
McGuire breaking the home run record in 98' at St. Louis.
1980 US Olympic hockey Gold Medal. (<--- that would be my favorite. Wish I was alive to have seen it though)

(I wasn't even old enough to have seen some of those)

1980 Olympic Gold Medal victory is one of the great moments in American sports history. That Russian team beat the NHL All Stars 6-0, but the young American squad (many from MN) still beat them. Greatest upset in sports history. :)

My Personal Favorite is when Joe Carter hit the Game winning Homerun in the bottom of the ninth in the World Series...I'm from Toronto and that was an amazing time to be a Jays Fan

And Donovan Bailey Winning the Gold Medal and breaking the World Record in the 100m race at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta

Also really like watching Michael Johnson dominate the 200m in the same Olympics....

I doubt it would qualify as a great sports moment, but I was more than a little impressed with David Tyree's helmet catch in the final minutes of Super Bowl XLII. There are others I've seen, but this is quite fresh in my mind, so I'll go with it.

Nikki Benz: Simply the best #1!!
1: The 2002 Brazilian Championship... when Santos beat our biggest rival Corinthians both matches.. first by 2x0 and then 3x2!!

2: The World Cup 2006... the 4th Italy world championship... best match it was of course the semi-final against Germany and the final against France!!

3: Brazilian League 2007... our biggest rival Corinthians fell to 2nd league... great!!!

MY florida gators winning the national championship in football and basketball in the same calender year...

As a Chicagoan, I enjoyed the White Sox' run though the post-season in 2005

The series against Boston was amazing (Orlando Hernandez pitching out of the bases loaded jam, Konerko's grand slam, Posednik's homerun!)

I witnessed it, was at some of the home games, so that sticks out in my mind. The 1985 Bears was nice, but I wasn't old enough to appreciate it as much.

Other than that, one of the first things to come to my mind was the Homerun off of Jose Canseco's head. . . that was classic!

also "the miracle on ice" - the USA's huge upset of the Soviet Union in the 1980 olympic hockey semifinals.

Theres a bunch. But the most energetic moments what I've personally witnesed:
Yep, the 1980 USA-Soviet game.

Reggies 3 home runs in the 77 series.
Buster Douglas knocks out Tyson.

Mark Messier's natural Hat Trick -Rangers-Devils 1993-94 season (Rangers went on to win the Cup).
Tony Dorsett's 99 yard from scrimage touchdown.

All 3 Gatti-Ward fights 2001,02,03
And the rest..

This is my admittedly US-biased list:

When the Sox came back from 3-0 on their way to their first World Series in 86 years :)

The 1980 Miracle on Ice

The Giants defeating the Patriots in the Super Bowl

Those are the three that resonate in my mind the most, even though the Miracle on Ice happened when I was 2 years old!

When Luis Gonzalez hit the game winning flare up the middle off of Rivera. And the diamond backs won the world series.
