Favorite Seasonal Treat

Okay, I'm going to admit on some of the threads that are active right now I've gotten more ornery and a little more stressed out that I would like to have done, and for the sake of my ulcers I'm gonna try to stop looking at them.

And I would also like to apologize for any loaded comments or questions that I have made.

At the same time, I thought I would start a happy thread.

What is your favorite seasonal treat? What is your favorite snack that is only available for a limited time each year?

Mine is white fudge covered oreo cookies.

Celery Root Salad -

It's a bit like potato salad but tastier ! For all intents and purposes, it's made the same way potato salad is made -

• The softball sized "root ball" is steamed / boiled until you can easily penetrate it with an ice pick etc.

• Let cool

• Dice into cubes

• Just pretend that you're making your regular potato salad recipie . .

• Maybe add some small salad shrimp into the mix

• Maybe add some diced green onions and the same for celery sticks.

• Finish off the top of serving bowl with paprika

• Sprinkle fresh parsley over the top.

• Bed on top of a big green husk of lettuce ~

I have a million of em . . . maybe post later . . .

Every Thanksgiving and Christmas time of year, mums & granmummy
served this salad just prior to the main dinner plate.

Yums !!! :yesyes:

Although it's not truly seasonal, I love turkey with cranberries.

For me, it definitely has to be egg nog. The finest of the nog family. I love that stuff so much, I drink it right out of the carton. This year, I will have to hold back though, since I've been watching what I eat.

The wonderful cadbury egg. :nanner:

Easter, Halloween, and Christmas candy.

My grandma's super dry, unpleasant tasting turkey. It sucks...but it wouldn't be Christmas without it.

My family we baste the turkey in Texas Pete over night, then deep-fry it.

It is the stuff that dreams are made of.

The food of the Festivus dinner on the evening of Festivus prior to the Feats of Strength and during the Airing of Grievances. The dinner is meat loaf or spaghetti in a red sauce and drinking of hearty beer, rum, bourbon, or wine.

Deep fried turkey is aaaawesome but, what's Texas Pete? :dunno:

Personally, I make a glaze which consists of apple juice, orange juice, brown sugar, maple syrup, nutmeg, butter and rosemary. Dear GOD I can smell it, SNIIIIIIIIIIFF.

My mortal enemy since I moved to the Netherland is once again being sold...the Olibollen. They're this deep fried, doughnut like ball that has raisons or some sort of filling, and is covered with powdered sugar.

Marzipan is also quite evil...

Pumpkin pie............. with loads of cool whip on it.

I was craving one last month...since canned pumpkin isn't sold here, I had to make it from scratch. That was enough to kill my craving until the next year. :1orglaugh It did turn out good though and my friends who've never had pumpkin pie gobbled it down.
