Favorite Movie Director All-Time?

What are some of your guys' favorite movie directors...passed or present?

For me...it would definitely have to be Martin Scorsese. I just love the type of movies he makes and his style is my favorite. It is so in your face that you are entertained but yet the more in your face it gets the more you believe the storyline. I dunno how to explain it, I just love his work. Love his camera shots...the long-take in Goodfellas and Travis' conversation with Betsy on the phone just to name a couple. The scores in his movies are freakin amazing and add so much to the movie. Seriously the music he uses is near perfect. Doesn't hurt that he has worked many times with Deniro, who is my favorite actor of all time.

I just love Marty and his work. My top 5 favorite Marty movies...

1. Goodefellas
2. Taxi Driver
3. The Departed
4. Casino
5. Raging Bull

honorable mentions would have to be Mean Streets and Gangs of New York.

Have to admit, don't really have one favorite director. Scorsese is certainly a favorite - Raging Bull, Taxi Driver and The Departed are indeed super films. More to the point, like everyone else, i have favorite films as opposed to favorite directors: Chinatown (Polanski), Thief (Michael Mann), Manhunter (Mann), Serpico, Carlito's Way, and many more...

Scorsese, Tarantino (OK most of his recent stuff is a bit shit, but he's still an amazing director) and Leone. I'm surprised no one has mentioned him yet, he is definately up there in the top 10.

Wow....really tough question since it depends on the film genre but I would say overall my favorite is Brian DePalma.

It's a hard question. You can watch a lot of good films and not be able to answer easily. I like Yimou Zhang, but then again, I like Ron Howard.

Jerry Bruckhiemer

Mr. Bruckheimer is known universally as a producer rather then a director. He has produced many outstanding and entertaining movies such as Blackhawk Down, The Rock and Pirates of the Carribbean et al. Outstanding talent!

There are only one director that comes to mind that I have seen all or most of their stuff and I like it all.
Peter Jackson...from the beginning with "Bad Taste", "Meet the Feebles" and "Dead Alive"(my favorite movie of all) all the way to "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and "King Kong", I like all his movies.
Honorable mention, though, certainly is deserved by Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, and of course Alfred Hitchcock.
