Eveyone Who Cares About The Mosque Issue, Watch This

The mosque will be 600 feet from GZ. Walk 60 feet to the right of the mosque and you can clearly see GZ.

Have that flop house built farther away.

but what about the muslim folks?
maybe one of them could say, " you know, taking into consideration what happened here maybe we should have the mosque a little farther away, i think that might be the decent thing to do"

what is the larger issue hustler? is it christians showing tolerance to muslims in the usa 2010?

What would be done if they wanted to turn that lot into a house where it would just be a Muslim family living there? Would people try to stop them from living there?

Let's build a 9/11 memorial site in every country that Muslims dominate!

How about Muslims being respectful to those non muslims murdered by muslims on behalf of their allah.

I completely understand what you're saying but with this issue, politicians can't take that into consideration. It's their property so they have every right to build a building there, whether it be a mosque, antique shop, sex shop (unless city laws forbid a sex shop in that district). It's their property, their religion, their right.

Philosophically, as Mr Olson stated, "We don't want to turn an act of hate against us by extremists into an act of intolerance for people of religious faith."

That plus the obvious Constitutional issues.

Good ol boy Newt Gingrich recently showed how truly idiotic he can be when discussing this subject. He stated, "There should be no mosque near Ground Zero in New York so long as there are no churches or synagogues in Saudi Arabia."....which essentially boils down to saying if Saudi Arabia is going to be intolerant we should be too :wtf:
That of course goes counter to everything this nation was founded on. But leave it Newt and his ilk to take a completely irrational, anti-american position like that and try to wrap it in the flag

I understand that everyone wants to believe in the freedom of religion down there, but there is also something called common sense. Building a mosque next to ground zero is asking for trouble. Freedom of religion doesn't even play into it.

One reason the muslims shouldn't build there, though, is that it will save them a butt load of money in potential vandalism to this place. I bet if it's built, it'll get bombed or burned down and then they'll say that people of other faiths can be just as violent.

if it is private then politicians should stay out of it other than saying "its private property, next question".

Of course freedom of religion plays into it. It HAS to or the next place of worship that someone decides is inappropriate may be yours.

And how about just letting the situation play out instead of condemning it before the fact? You can bet your bottom dollar the CIA, etc will be monitoring this facility and its primaries.

Plus there is already a mosque less than a mile from ground zero, and several within a few miles.

Also as I understand it the community center will feature a memorial to the 9/11 victims. Do any other structures in that neighborhood currently house such a thing? I don't think so.

I believe they still have to be approved for a building permit. I could be wrong but the city I live in, you even have to have a building permit if you're adding something on to your existing house. Like I said, I don't know how it works there

The building of a mosque should never be/ never have been authorized.

Would you also be in favor of tearing down the existing mosque that's less than a mile away?

The question isn't here, the real question is: is that mosque a possible hidden recruitment center of future al quaeda operatives or radical islamist terrorists?
