Ever met a celeb' that turned out to be a prick? Someone you met that was cool?

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
that blonde girl that won Big Brother years ago she was a total skanky bitch

Jordan? The really dumb, blonde girl from Charlotte, NC? I'm told that she once worked at a Hooters near Charlotte where I used to eat. I watched part of the season where she was on (to please my new girlfriend). I hated that show and didn't like her either. And I'm sick of these "15 minutes of fame celebrities"... who are (only) famous for being famous. I saw that "Big Tom" clown from Survivor at the airport. All these little kids were asking that dope for his autograph. I just  at this big goof, still wearing his bib overalls, trying to draw out his 15 minutes of reality show fame.

I'm not much into "celebrities", so I wouldn't be trying to approach them to see if they were cool or dicks to begin with. But I do worship race car drivers, and I've been lucky enough to meet a few of the greats at U.S. races. Mario Andretti is one of the legends of auto racing and he was VERY cool. Emerson Fittipaldi is a multiple F1 World Driving Champion and Indy 500 winner (back when it still meant something to win that race) and he was VERY cool. Those are the greatest racers I've ever met, and they were as nice and cool as they could be. Mario's son, Michael, has a reputation for being a dickhead, and he certainly lived up to it the one time that I met him at Nazareth. His (then) wife Sandy was rude to my (then) girlfriend and I never liked that bitch either. Juan Pablo Montoya was a tad bit arrogant, but I didn't sense that he went out of his way to be a dick, like Andretti did. I really like him as a driver, but he's not all that friendly. Shirley Muldowney was super nice (met her well after she'd retired). And Angelle Sampey (Seeling/Savoie) is a multiple NHRA champion, and she couldn't be any more of a sweetheart if she tried. I was near D@nica Patrick when she was in Atlantics. I'm told that she's actually pretty fan friendly. But I think her fame is based on her being a wannabe swimsuit model/attention whore, not a (true) racer, so I wouldn't give her the piece of paper for her to sign an autograph for me. She's only won one (bush league IRL) race in her entire career and she comes of like she's headed to F1 any second now.

The only other celebs that I can remember meeting were Dizzy Gillespie at a hotel (REALLY friendly and witty guy) and Kim Alexis at a race a few years ago - she was very nice too.

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
This indeed has been done before but I agree with Scott....board has been a bit slow lately so:

Cool: Jimmy Johnson, Magic Johnson, Dan Marino, George Foreman, Eddie Guerrero (RIP!), Bill Kurtis, Ferdie Pacheco, Ben Stein, Jerry Jones

Prick: Joe Theismann

My experience tells me that most people are nice to you if you aren't an overbearing asshole to them.

John Elway - biggest jerkoff!

I was with a friend at BlockBuster Video on a Friday Night. John got all pissed off that he was "spotted" by fans in the store. He acted like he was disgusted to be alive! Asshole! If you don't fans to see ya = don't go to a fricken Movie Store on a Friday night - jackass!

All right, I am fairly confident we had a thread like this going some time back, but this board has been slow lately so we need some new blood.

Any actors, actresses, athletes, or otherwise famous people that turned out to be royal penises? Maybe someone you met that turned out to be down-to-earth individuals? I've met quite a few that were pricks, and then some that were pretty cool.

Pricks:

Beck
Christ Chelios
Steve Yzerman
Jack Johnson (the singer, not the hockey player)
Randy Moss

Cool peoples:

Arnold Palmer
Jeremy Roenick (cool as hell!)
Matt Johnson (enforcer for MN Wild)
Chauncey Billups
Dave Mathews
Prince

Many more - some who were in a "grey" area - but I will let you opine.

I wanna say in fairness to some of those I listed that I did meet some of them at awkward times/situations. Usually the athletes I've met directly before or after a game. And I forgot to add Joe Mauer to the people who are totally down to earth. Bob Dylan's touring band (Tony Garnier and Larry Campbell) were all cool as shit.

Prick: Joe Theismann

Why am I not surprised that Joe is a prick? :D

Brian May

Yes...I shook the hand of the man that wrote "Fat Bottomed Girls".

I met him backstage after a concert at Hammerjacks. He was very polite,soft-spoken,and a really nice guy. He seemed genuinely surprised that so many people still loved him and his work. (this was in the early 90's).

I've also met the Greatest Third Baseman Ever, the man that redefined the position, known as Hoover,or Mr. Oriole......Brooks Robinson. He was doing a signing at a local store and I went to meet him.I was standing in line, and we were informed by his "people" that he wouldn't sign anything but the print of him that was being sold (which meant forgetting about the jersey I was wearing).

Well, someone should have told him that, because as soon as I got to the front of the line,he motions me to put part of it on the table and he signed it anyway: "Brooks Robinson-HOF '83". I talked to him for about two minutes, and he was the nicest guy you can imagine. His handlers were telling him it was time to go,and he ignored them and kept talkin'.

Thanks, Brooks.

I was working in Manhattan in the late 1980s and I met Steve Vai in the Atlantic Records Building elevator going up. Trouble is, I didn't know who he was. I said hello to him. He said hello back to me. Tall guy. He got out on an earlier floor. I continued up. Later for lunch, my co-worker and I took the elevator down. The door opens Steve gets back onto the elevator, and the elevator goes down to the street level. He meets this lovely blonde lady in the lobby and they both get into a limousine. The chauffeur opens the door, they get in. The chauffeur walks around to the other side, gets in, starts the limo and they drive away. My co-worker friend says, "Do you know who they were?" I said, "No." He said, "Well, you just met Steve Vai and Pia Maiocco."

Unfortunately, my co-worker and I never met up with him or Pia again.

I've met Eddie Van Halen, Michael Anthony (VH), Billy Joel, Olivia Newton John, Brian May and had a drink and a chat with Dave Grohl about 3 years ago.

They were all very friendly, especially Brian and Dave! Champions!!!

I've only met a few football players for the Baltimore Ravens after practice, but most of them were cool and would walk around and say hey to the fans...

Ray Lewis: has to be one of the coolest guys ever
Kyle Bollar: This guy took so much crap from the fans, but he would always come over and talk to you
Todd Heap: Cool guy

Sad to have to say it, but Nick Carter was a royal douche to me. I'm wiping away the tears as I type this. *sigh*
:surprise:

Wow, and you were the only one here that actually supported him and didn't think he was a little bitch. Sorry, that sucks. At least you know now though, right?

So who's your new crush? Is it me? :D

I ran into Joe Theismann on the street in downtown Phoenix when Super Bowl XXX was here. He was nice to me and signed an autograph for me. I agree with you most celebs will be polite if you don't make a big deal out of running into them.

Makes me so sad to hear those two are pricks. :( Big fan of both.

Forgot: Weird Al. NICEST GUY EVER!

I'd love to meet him! I follow him on Twitter, very cool dude.

...had a drink and a chat with Dave Grohl about 3 years ago.

jealous! I'd love to meet him too!

Ok, the only folks I've met are kind of small-time... the guys from Sister Hazel and some smaller name bands. All were extremely friendly and great to their fans.

Its a stupid thread I would imagine this would have a lot to do with mood. I mean can't everyone be a prick sometimes.....Hardly think its celebrity exclusive.

PS> Sorry to burst it all with a healthy dose of reality.....Now unless they are like 70 per cent out of a 100 times a prick they won't make ass hole classification for me personally anyway.

PSS> Take for example myself......If I was famous I'd probably take a load of randomers on some fucked up drug fuelled party of decadence just for the pure randomness and ego....Cause I could. Other times I'd probably feel like attacking paps with I dunno a lump of 4x4. Other times I'd retreat to seclusion. Then other times I just be normal.
